Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A memorial to a piece of Australian history. Built on the site of the original Eureka Stockade, this memorial tells the story of the battle against the colonial authorities and the fight against the gold tax. A visit to here and the Eureka Centre provides a full history of the battle and it is great to take kids along to learn about what happened all those years ago.

More than I expected - more than hoped!
This is one bvery s[ecial place to go vosot.
So informative and respectful.
Interactive screens gave so much to our visit.
To see and read the story of the flag was very special.
The grounds are so lovely with a lake and memorial avenue of trees - so tranquil. The copper memorial depicting the events was also incredible art work.

We spent a very interesting time here. The Museum is very interactive and contains some fascinating artifacts and historical material to wonder about. While it deals with the Eureka Stockade incident is also puts it into historical and universal context.
The gift shop is also a good browsing spot. Great for gifts for young . The cafeteria had a good range of items and a pleasant seating area outside. There was plenty of parking space .

whilst in Ballarat why not include in your itinerary everything Eureka, it's educational and any eye opener about the events that took place and kick-started democracy in the new colony

It isn’t just the memorial - which may or may not be on the site of the stockade (it was made of upturned wagons and only there for a few hours) - the main attraction is the MADE visitor centre.
Here, pride of place is given to the Eureka Flag. Its provenance has been well established, and it is awesome to stand alongside this icon of Australian democracy. It’s rather like seeing the original “Star Spangled Banner” in the National Museum of American History in Washington. Flags have a real emotional importance to us.
The rest of the centre adds valuable background to the events of 1854 and, with striking audio visuals, links them to the wider struggle for freedom and rights, with such figures as Martin Luther King.
The table top touch screens are very helpful, though might get congested at busy times.
My visit was after the main tourist season, and unfortunately there were no books about the Eureka Stockade on sale. A visit to Sovereign Hill the next day remedied that. I recommend “Eureka Stockade” by Marion Littlejohn. It is a well illustrated introduction which helpfully connects the events in Australia with the struggles in the wider world, including Chartists in England and the Irish famines.

Spent quite a while here taking it all in. An historic site in Australia's history. The memorial is great and they have developed a lovely park around it. The kids playground is themed and is really good. We didn't go into the museum, rather preferring to take in the location and the memorial. A must-see when it comes to Australian history.

Spent a couple of hours at the Eureka Stockade Memorial Park as was a beautiful day, to sit and reflect on what happened at that spot all those years ago.
The park is well maintained and the pond clean, fantastic.
Also loved the Memorial to “The Pikemans Dog” a Scottish Terrier (Wee Jock) for his loyalty to his mater on 3rd December 1854.

Bit of a mystery as to why the cannons are representative of the Eureka stockade. No cannons were used and these were only built in 1861. A signboard would be helpful

An amazing museum that everyone should visit to appreciate what happened in the 1800's, especially the uprising of the Erika Stockade. A well presented museum, worth a visit and it's free.
