Nice Walk
Jun. 2021
We walked around the lake. Its about 6.5Km and took us about 1 1/2 hours at a sllow pace. Learnt a few things on the way and enjoyed the scenery and the friendly locals, both people and the wildlife.

Each time we have been to Ballarat we have been to Lake Wendouree, made the effort this time and happy we did. Nice even track, lots of birds, plenty of people enjoying the lake as we did

Brrrrr!
Jun. 2021
There is a very good walking track around the Lake and lots of birdlife to observe. The Botalical Gardens are adjustent with the interesting row of Prime Minister"s sculpures. Unfortunately I didn't have time to do the entire walk - about 5km I think. It seems to be very popular with the local walkers. Must be lovely in summer but a bit brisk in winter.

Gorgeous walk particularly when sunny

Lake wendouree offers a very different experience depending on the weather. My husband and I love to walk around the lake (6.2km - just under an hours brisk walk) and start and finish at one of the venues for brekky and coffee. Ballarat yacht club is ones of my faves for breakfast or
Lunch, Lake view hotel has good
Coffee and a nice breakfast selection, racers offers a wonderful porridge with fresh fruit. Across from lake
View the boatshed offers yummy breakfast options as does pipers in the lake which is on the opposite side. If you are feeling energetic there are a number of newly added gym stops with different machines - outdoor exercise bike, bench press, bars and poles - can be a bit of fun and these exercise stations are dispersed throughout the lakes edge.
I think the lake is at its most lovely when the sun is shining and glistening on the water - very pretty but beware of the black
Swans! (Also
Give way to them if you are driving!)
Botanical gardens vary with the seasons but often are a very pretty environment to stroll around. Check out the statue house rotunda. A number of playgrounds for kids around the side
Near botanic gardens.
Great free entertainment/activity

Scenic park
Mar. 2021
A beautiful park and lake with lots of trees and picnic facilities. There are playground facilities for younger children and lots of open space so you can also find a nice quiet area also. We only stopped for a lunch break while traveling but it would be a lovely place for a day bbq or picnic and a long walk along the lake. I recommend stopping for an ice cream at the tram too.

Walking

This is such a lovely spot I sometimes go just to walk the 6km around it. Very flat but veeerryy picturesque and well looked after. So many birds lol. Sometimes go on the swings cause swings dont stop being fun just cause Im an adult right. But lots of places for picnics, bird watching or coffee. People cycle around the joint too. And there's the Botanical gardens across the road from it too.

This is a beautiful lake. We cycled around the lake easily (6km) and stopped often to get some picturesque photos. It is a great location for visitors and anyone wanting to have a relaxing day by the lake. Highly recommended if you are visiting Ballarat. Coffee shops are also in the vicinity.

Great accommodation in Ballarat
Apr. 2021 • Couples
We stayed a week in Ballarat at Lake Wendouree Luxury Apartments and was not disappointed. Our two bedroom two bath apartment was tastefully appointed with good sized lounge and eat-in kitchen. Despite the chilly weather we were warm and cosy thanks to the flame effect gas fire and electric blankets fitted to the beds. If you’re are looking for comfortable accommodation in Grove Street, a short walk from the lake, this is it! Highly recommended.

Ultimate place to visit.
Apr. 2021 • Couples
There’s a reason this is one of the most used and visited destinations in Ballarat by locals and tourists. There’s something for everyone.

For the older members, a 6km track around the lake, beautifully manicured gardens, great views and a coffee shop.

For the younger group, an abundance of playgrounds and open areas to explore.

A definite must see whether you have 10 minutes or a whole afternoon.
