The lake was beautiful. Make sure you go through the tram museum and then take a little ride along the lake. The rickety old tram with the authentic tram conductor really is an experience everyone should have. There are many little cafe situated alongside the lake and the botanical Gardens alongside are beautiful. A lovely place to visit

Great place for a walk or run on a beautiful crisp autumn day. This is the lake where they held the rowing events for the 1956 Olympics.

This lake is a lovely location and you can take a stroll all the way round. There are places to eat near the water (recommend The Boathouse), birdlife aplenty, Botanical Gardens across the road as well as the Tram Museum also, children's playground, watersports and so much more. I love the lake, the trees and plants, swans and ducks and... More

To have a lake like this in the middle of the city is a credit to Ballarat. It is heavily used by walkers and runners but I was impressed at the rowing assets around the perimeter.

What a beautiful multipurpose lake to have within the city limits. On the day we visited, there were groups of rowers and many families picnicking on the shores. It looks to be very clean and provides the locals with a chance to experience water activities all year around. Lots of bird life too.

Great scenic, easy walking track around this large lake. Fantastic photo opportunities at sunset especially near the Lake View Hotel. Plenty of bird life including black swans.
