Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Did the Saturday night 4 hour tour with Riley. Nice small group of six allowed us to linger in areas we were enjoying the most. Riley has great knowledge and was not laying on the extreme dramatics but was really entertaining and engaging. The four hour tour includes a lot of walking indoors and out around the whole site, numerous buildings with varying history. There is a toilet break half way which was important to me! Thanks for a fun and informative tour!

My friends and I went on the tour and were a little disappointed as we thought it would have been more eerie. We thought we may go through some haunted buildings but really only went down a few lanes and told a very theatrical rendition of the historical history of Ballarat. Saying that, it was presented well but we spent a lot of time standing and listening.
I have done the tour to the Arandale Asylum, and would rate this a definite 5 . So maybe I was hoping the Ballarat tour would have the same ambience.

We did the 6 hour paranormal investigation. It was OK. The place was nice to visit, but not scary at all. Maybe we just went on an "off" night. The host was great and she was really informative and let us take our time. I feel, if you get the wrong group of people with you, the night is spoiled. I'd rather go on a night where the other group members don't muck around and treat everything like a joke. It takes away from the experience, but unfortunately, it's not Eerie Tours fault and you can't pick and choose who is in the group. So it's pot luck who you get. A suggestion would be, half way through, a coffee/tea break and a bicky would be good. 6 hours is a long time and the only break is a smoke break for the smokers. For $155 per person, a hot water urn, some instant coffee, paper cups and UHT milk isn't much to ask.

We did the 2 hour tour that started at 7:30pm and was due to finish at 9:30pm. I hate to say it but it was the worst $45.00 dollars I have ever spent. Our tour guide was named Lithium and unfortunately she was extremely boring to listen to for 2 hours and it honestly seemed like she was making stories up on the spot or decided to only tell us half of the story and missed out on the juicy/scary parts.
There was not one scary thing that happened, apart from some rooms feeling colder. The history of the place is rather sad, but I couldn’t tell you much about it as we got hardly any stories to refer too.
I would not recommend unless you’re getting a tour guide from other positive reviews on here or perhaps try a completely different tour rather than the 2 hour session.

On presenting at the correct time and correct place with clearly marked ticket the door guide sent me too the wrong tour. Following instructions to put phone to flight mode I didn’t get the txt from the other group asking where I was.
Even though she saw me settling up my equipment, and even said no videos allowed she still didn’t say there was another tour that night with the same company. We were delayed because of late comers. As it became clear that it wasn’t the tour I booked and as there appeared to be no other tour I assumed I had made the error in booking. But it got worse as the group of more than 10 were leaving an area on nearly slipped on water! Having done a lot of tours I was shocked that there was only one guide for so many people and that she didn’t assign someone to use a torch to light the hazard. Being a hot night and very confused about it all I opted to leave as carting my equipment in that heat and not being able to use it was a waste of my time. On getting to my home I put the phone off flight mode...this is when I got the txt and realised I had been put in the wrong group.
Eeries response to my request for a refund was that the guide said I had asked for the 4hour tour! The ticket was clearly marked ultimate paranormal tour. As for going on any of there tours ...NO Thank you. I will go with someone who knows what is going on and how to treat paying guests.

I have tried contacting Eerie Ghost Tours regarding a tour we have paid for already. Left multiple messages over 3 different days with contact details and never receives a response. They get payment online and don't have an office or anywhere to contact them. Note: Google third party ticket resellers to get half price tickets.

This clown booked us in to a cemetery ghost tour, we booked accommodation for Ballarat from Melbourne, arrived, booked in to our hotel, but just in case rang in the afternoon to double check our booking, only to be told there is no booking, and something about no tour and having to spend two weeks training up some other bloke. Phoned about a refund and he claimed he had no knowledge of the conversation. This was prepaid and never got a refund, let alone an apology. DON'T go on a tour with these losers. They still owe me money. Absolutely and completely unprofessional, do not waste your money on this tour.

A group of us booked the Ballarat ghost tour, mostly to see the underground city that they list on their website for the tour “This tour travels through underground buildings, back alleyways and through the remains of the old Ballarat Gaol”
Tour began by announcing that due to social distancing restrictions there would be no underground buildings and instead we only walked around the back alleys of Ballarat and into the remains of the goal.
This was pretty disappointing being that it was the main attraction of the tour and it isn’t noted anywhere that it isn’t currently available when booking or anywhere I could find on socials even after searching post the tour.
I am not sure if it was to fill in the time gaps left by the lack of the underground component or is a standard pitch but there was as much, if not more talk of the Aradale tour and activities there, than of the actual tour we were on, which felt like we were on the cheap preview tour trying to upsell us on the premium version.
If you are were also looking to explore the buried buildings of Ballarat, you may need to wait a while until the tour can return to normal.

We went on the Ballarat ghost tour on Valentine’s Day/night, we met the tour guide under the clock tower at the train station, He introduced himself and was very theatrical all the way along the tour which was brilliant and added to the explanations of historical events of the tour. Was a lot of walking , wear comfortable shoes, there was a lot of beautiful architectural buildings and was great to learn about Ballarat. The tour guide was full of knowledge and very enjoyable to listen to. Highly recommend.

Enjoyable tour - the guide was very informative and theatrical. The ghost stories and history facts were fun and interesting. We didn’t see or capture anything paranormal, but it was definitely eerie!
Would recommend for a fun night out. We also got a great ticket deal on Groupon.
PLEASE NOTE: We took the 9pm-10:30pm tour. The tour roughly finished at 10:40 by the old Ballarat Gaol.
Ballarat station is a 10 min walk down Lydiard street from the Gaol and the last train of the night heading towards Southern Cross was at 10:50pm!
The minute the tour ended we ran to the station and got on the train at 10:49! It was incredibly stressful!! So keep that in mind when booking!
