I've been to many of the wildlife parks in Victoria and I was very impressed with the number of rare parrots at Bird World. After reading the reviews from other travelers, I wasn't convinced it was going to be worth the time, but the grounds have really benefited from the recent rains and flooding. Upon arrival, the owner proudly told... More

What a wonderful place to check out cockatoos up close. the owners have a very amazing understanding of all the birds they care for. Shame on the Ballarat City Council for not helping out. We have been several times and have enjoyed our visits immensely. Ballarat residents should be very proud of this attraction

Have been a few times and although drought and lack of water means the waterfall isn't going, the birds are great. If you make an appointment the owner will take you in with the red tailed black cockatoo. The in flight aviary has now been fixed and the birds are all nice and close when you walk through. The owners... More

My partner and I were there in January. It is not a well visited area, but people are missing out by not going, we really enjoyed ourselves. I was also there in July 2015 with an exchange student and she loved it. The owners story is amazing, They receive no funding at all from any govt or council body. They... More

Bird World is 40 year old tourist attraction and sadly it is showing it's age - having being ravaged by drought what once was a man made rain forest is no more. I took my Wife a bird lover there as an Easter treat which was overshadowed by the condition of the park. The caged birds were nice to look... More

We spent most of the day here, we came by public transport and it was a bit of a walk up and down a few steep roads but by car it's not a problem.

Some beautiful birds here, but in quite small aviaries, and you only get to the bird area after a walk through a very dry bush garden. I'm sure it would be beautiful after some rain, but not great at the moment. It seems wheelchair friendly; the boardwalk is made up of low-grade ramps so would probably be quite suitable. They... Ballarat Bird World is a quaint attraction from another era. It is undoubtably in need of a cash injection but that is part of the appeal. The avery is repaired but birds are still sparse with the best entertainment in the depressing cages. As entry is free for under 4s, it only cost us $24 to get in. This is... More
