Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Read the reviews and thought we would drop in for a few beers before starting a night out in Launceston on our 3rd day visiting in town.

Ordered a Beer and G&T, barmaid was dis-engaged and generally uninterested when serving. When I received my beer it didn't taste as I expected but it was still pleasant so drank away.

Asked for "The same again" and mentioned the beer name. Barmaid began pouring and I (stupidly) said "Excuse me, I think I ordered the " at which point the barman started laughing, grabbed a pen and chalked up a mark and proudly announced to anyone who cared to listen "The Taps don't line up with the beers" with a smug look on his face.

After feeling a little sheepish I apologized for my indiscretion. You can imagine my predicament when I tasted my 2nd beer it was different from the last one. Not wanting to be publicly humiliated or chastised again I had another few sips.

Then I said to the barman "Hey, I get that the taps don't line up but this beer is different to the last one I ordered (when I said "Same again")". At that point the disinterested barmaid piped up that she had in fact poured the wrong beer earlier.

So maybe the taps should line up to help the barstaff?

All the barman did was proceed to take the piss further and mock me instead of offering to switch the beer out and put things back to right. When challenged he advised not to argue with the barman.

So we finished our drinks and walked out. +1 for Launceston tourism pal.

Seldom can the actions of just one bar person put me off drinking at a bar, I look at it like this, there are other bar tenders and that particular one may be having a bad day .... I've had plenty of those. But when they stand and listen to the conversation you are having with your friends and make silly faces and then ignore you when your glasses are empty and walk "out the back" so you have to get the attention of another bar tender it is tedious, to say the least. I was there with two friends mid afternoon on a Saturday we were sitting/standing at the bar. The selection of small output breweries is fantastic the beer on tap is cold and very well presented as any craft beer shop should be the decor is ambient/lumberjack and the atmosphere was pleasant ... when I go back (which I will) I'll probably just sit/stand in another bar persons "patch"

Found this place by accident wandering the streets of Launceston. It soon became my equal favourite bar/pub in Tasmania (with Preachers in Hobart). The variety and quality of the beers is first class (great craft beers from around Australia), but loved the ambience of the place. Nooks and crannies throughout. Nice food options. Fantastic music - never heard a bad song option and the only place in Australia I've ever heard one of my favourite bands, Belle and Sebastian played. The staff person for my very first beer wasn't overly friendly, but I ended up having multiple staff experiences over time and became a huge fan of not just the great staff but the venue. Prices pretty good as well (actually, great compared to similar around the country). Locals clearly loved the place, became pretty crowded at times - never had a problem getting served though. Would love this place in my town!

Stopped in for a meal on the back of visiting their website and wasn’t disappointed. Laid back vibe, good selection of craft beers and local wines and the meals were very good at reasonable prices (the chips were next level good). Bar staff very friendly and helpful.

Would definitely recommend.

Very nice bar. Lots of beers to choose from and good street food. Relaxed atmosphere, very pleasant waiters and waitresses. Arriving around 6 p.m. Launceston seemed very calm to us, this stop gave some pep to the evening.

We only dropped in for a late afternoon drink and we’re impressed by the selection of wine, beer and spirits. Most were local (Tasmanian) and didn’t seem to be and ‘multi national’ brands - so true to the craft tag.

We’re too early to sample food but seemed to be a reasonable selection.

I went here with a few mates after a weekend of hiking and had one of the top three burgers I’ve ever had in my life. I ordered the beef burger, added bacon, got an order of chips and paired it with a Venom Black IPA - perfection!

The interior is funky and the bartenders were really friendly. I’ll definitely be back the next time I’m down In Launceston!

I'd visited this place in 2019 and was so happy to bring my family here to show them what the fuss was about. A great place for sampling a range of draft and bottled craft beers. This place is usually busy and also does bar food. We came her twice during our brief visit to Launceston and still had many beers left to try when we left. The beers are well kept, and the staff know their stuff. There are other drinks available in case your friends are not as passionate about their ale.

The food was excellent - delicious burgers, chips and cheese platters. There was a great variety of craft beers. I especially enjoyed the pomegranate and lime sour. Unfortunately this tap ran out. The staff were friendly. Don’t take kids though - it’s not family friendly. They played death metal all night.

Popped in for a couple Of cheeky beers. A good selection of beers on tap (some out front and stouts/dark out back so go look!) also a huge selection of beers in can for purchase or takeaway. Very friendly and nice staff and fun and funky blues tunes out the front with a more modern vibe out the back. If you like beer well worth the check...
