We did a 50min boat trip on the Tamar on a nice warm day. We obviously did not get to see a lot in that time but the commentary was somewhat amusing despite the lack of exceptional landmarks to comment thereon. The gift store was well habited by most from the tour but it was otherwise a ho-hum little trip.... More

We spent half a day driving along both sides of the Tamar estuary. Scenery is spectacular on both sides but special mention to Low Head

We were lucky with the weather and perhaps saw the river at its very best. It's picturesque and has many interesting spots along the way.

If you are driving south heading towards Launceston make sure you find and stop at Brady's Lookout. The views of the Tamar River are just stunning.

It is a great river, the closer you get to the ocean. Some good high views along the way, great for photos. Wines too. Sunny, good to canoe or kayak in. Sailing clubs. Down the end there are sea horses at Beauty Point. It is very wide, and you can drive up both sides of the river. Accomodation along the... More

Drove up the East Tamar to George Town, visited the Bass and Flinders centre to see the replica of the Norfolk , crossed the Batman bridge, drove up to Seahorse World and Platypus and echidna house, then down the west Tamar including along the river on the C733 - really a wonderful day.

Could not believe how stunning the Tamar River is. We drove from Launceston Airport all the way up to the Northern parts of Tasmania. We followed the Tamar all the way, crossing the Batman Bridge. Lots of beautiful little stops along the way you can do - especially for picnics, photos and fishing.

We traveled all the way up to the mouth, with various stops in between. A very relaxing trip and not very far to travel. When you reach the end of the road at the light house, enjoy the views and scenery, then take either East or West Tamar Highway back to Launceston.
