Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Spectacular 360 deg view. Challenging steep but doable walk up to the tower. I’m 64 yo moderately fit and did it quite easily. The challenge for me was vertigo as the road has no fence and very steep on both sides. Dog friendly. We took our two faithful friends with us.

Wow! What a climb. Quite steep, but the reward of the view makes it all worth while. The tower is nor open ti climb, but the lookout area is still magnificent viewing platform. There is even a dog bowl with water in it at the top.

This is a really steep walk but we, in our 70s, managed it easily. I would recommend small children be taken up there.

The 360 degree views from the tower were worth the walk up the steep hill. It was amazing standing at the top of the hill overlooking the town.

I would loved to have been able to go into the tower to take a look. Hopefully next time it may be open.

Stunning views of pastureland and Mount Gambier township once you reach the tower. The tower seems to be permanently closed, and visitor information state they do not know when or if it will reopen. The walk up the asphalt path is very steep, and even though it is asphalt, I would say it is not disability friendly, or for anyone with health issues.

As long as you’re up for a walk up a very steep hill you’ll love this walk. Even though the flag wasn’t flying it’s well worth the walk for view over Mt Gambier and surrounds.

It is an amazing walk to reach the Centenary Tower. Once you reach the top you are greeted with spectacular views. We did not get to go inside as the flag was not flying.

The views are great once you reach the top. Walking up the very steep hill was a real venture for me, but it was worth it once on the top. I did feel I was on top of the world!!

Currently Closed - we decided to walk up to the tower, only to be met with temporary fencing and a sign telling us it was closed. It appears to be due to bushfire damage so may be a while until it is reopened. It wasn’t a completely wasted trip as there is a nice viewing platform at the top carpark where you can get swarmed by lady beetles which was pretty cool.
