Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Small remembrance museum as part of the RSL. The information is reflective of the times, and it is respectfully done. If it is locked, staff are happy to open it up for you. Well worth looking at. Lest we forget.

I have already given this a spiel on its content and content. For a mini-museum of remembrance, I cant say more to all the contributors of this beautiful shrine remembering our fallen. Less we Forget.

It really is worth the time to have a wander through the tremendous collection in the museum. From pre Boer War to current operations, there is such a variety of elements to be appreciated. The effort the RSL has made in detailing these pieces also deserves to be commended.

The little sign saying Museum in the Mount Gambier RSL hides a proud collection of historical items from the Boer War to recent conflicts and peace keeping missions. There are accounts, bios, weapons, photographs, memorials, personal items that are linked to the service and sacrifice of those who came from the district. It holds a unique collection of photos from WWII and it is so easy to lose track of time here. I think this growing collection will soon outgrow their current space. Don't miss the Leopard tank, the 25 pounder and the Scout Car across the road. A local attraction that should be high on visitors list especially those with an interest in military history. A perfect place for women to leave their husband while they go shopping in Mount Gambier. A credit to their volunteers who deserve more than this basic salute.

Being overseas visitrs we didn't really understand why our Australian friends wanted to visit this museum. However even for us it was great to see so much of Australian war history in such a small area. Many exhibits are given to the museum by locals and the museum itself is operated by volunteers and entry is free. Great to see how some people keep their country's history alive.

The military museum is within the Mount Gambier Community RSL facility, with a Leopard tank and two artillery pieces in a park across the road. The museum is open SUN-THURS 0930 - 1700 hrs. You can either do a self guided tour or phone to arrange a guided tour. The museum has a large range of weapons, uniforms, medals, photographs and newspaper clippings. It also identifies local people and their participation in various conflicts. There are items ranging from the Boxer Rebellion & Boar War through to Afghanistan. Time your visit to have breakfast, lunch or dinner at the centres Stonegrill Bistro.
