About
Laurel Bank Park is a beautiful 4.5 hectare parkland close to Toowoomba's city centre, featuring spectacular manicured gardens, a scented garden, a collection of exotic trees, a playground, picnic area, gazebo and croquet greens. Beautiful year-round, but known for its sublime spring displays and avenues of cherry blossoms, it is most magnificent during Carnival of Flowers each September. The Scented Gardens, are a 'garden within a garden' created from ideas presented by the Downs Association of the Blind, and feature fragrant blooms, herbs and shrubs in raised beds. The park came into being in 1932 when Darling Downs Building Society Managing Director, Mr Samuel George Stephens, donated the land to the people of Toowoomba, with the City Council official custodian. Prior to gifting the land, Mr Stephens improved it with shrubs and flowers, and was known to many as 'the man of flowers'.

This was a beautiful and accessible garden. In a relatively small area it has something for everyone from clever topiary to a tulip display. The elevated viewing platform allowed an overview of the themed garden, this year butterfly.
It’s a shame the information caravan is only open on weekends. A coffee cart would have enhanced the opportunity to sit and admire the gardeners efforts

We chose this park to look at because of the proximity to where our parents in law were staying and also the weather on the day. The preparations were well underway for the Toowoomba Flower Festival in September when the gardens will be stunning. Something for everyone - even the kids and non gardeners. The detailed designs and planting arrangements are very evident. Close to the CBD and well worth a look

What a beautiful surprise to find colourful flowers still in bloom at this gorgeous park. We could wander around with our dog on a leash and enjoy the colors and the delightful leftovers from the Carnival of Flowers that finished one month ago. It was a pleasure to see a variety of different areas to wander through to sit and contemplate, and there's even public toilets.

Laurel bank park is a great place to chill and relax by yourself on a lunch break or with family and friends on a weekend.
One of Toowoomba best parks to be enjoyed all year round.
Summer tunes every Sunday in the park till the end of Feb.

Laurel Bank Park was the highlight of our visit to Toowoomba for the Carnival of Flowers. It is spectacular. The displays are beautiful and the work that has gone into presenting the park as it is must be ENORMOUS. We went on a Monday morning and the crowd wasn't too bad at all.

We visited Toowoomba and its Laurel Bank Park in September 2023 specifically for the Carnival of Flowers and, more specifically, for the Carnival Parade. The parade was delightful and you could see all the hard work in making the floats that the local groups had put in.

The parade finished in Laurel Bank Park and the flower bed displays there were an absolute picture.

Excellent park, far less crowded during the Carnival/Festival of Flowers than Queens Park, would love to come back to see the displays in full bloom. We visited right at the beginning of festival in September on a Sunday afternoon. The viewing platform was great, will be fabulous in a week or so when all the flowers are out. Great live band, food trucks on a Sunday afternoon. The topiary bushes will be great too in a week or two. Lots of tulips. This park is a must visit in Toowoomba, personally I preferred it over Queens Park as it’s far less crowded.

Council has been working very hard on this year’s display for the September Carnival of Flowers month. I like the addition of food vans, we were ready to go, but deciding to buy some food and we had a picnic under the shade. A lovely meetup with our group.

Laural Bank Park is such a beautiful place in downtown Toowoomba. Quite forgotten sometimes I think. For walking and looking at all the beautiful gardens. Or just sitting...having lunch etc. So well maintained. It's a real gem. Walking distance to cafes and shopping.Street parking may be busy in peak times.

Loved this garden! We came too late for the spring carnival so unfortunately Queens Park was pretty much flowerless, but the Laurel Bank Park still had so many beautiful gardens, including a stunning rose section. They also had a fantastic scented garden and great shaped bushes (including the Sydney Opera house).

Hands down though, my favourite was the Thomas the Tank Engine hedge with seats intertwined. Absolutely brilliant!
