About
Laurel Bank Park is a beautiful 4.5 hectare parkland close to Toowoomba's city centre, featuring spectacular manicured gardens, a scented garden, a collection of exotic trees, a playground, picnic area, gazebo and croquet greens. Beautiful year-round, but known for its sublime spring displays and avenues of cherry blossoms, it is most magnificent during Carnival of Flowers each September. The Scented Gardens, are a 'garden within a garden' created from ideas presented by the Downs Association of the Blind, and feature fragrant blooms, herbs and shrubs in raised beds. The park came into being in 1932 when Darling Downs Building Society Managing Director, Mr Samuel George Stephens, donated the land to the people of Toowoomba, with the City Council official custodian. Prior to gifting the land, Mr Stephens improved it with shrubs and flowers, and was known to many as 'the man of flowers'.

A lovely little park with a wide range of trees and plants. I especially love the croquet court and wisteria bower (when in bloom)

Nice park to walk through, has special section to smell plants for the blind, has a great children’s play equipment area, beautiful at Carnival time where they plant to a certain theme.

Loved this garden! We came too late for the spring carnival so unfortunately Queens Park was pretty much flowerless, but the Laurel Bank Park still had so many beautiful gardens, including a stunning rose section. They also had a fantastic scented garden and great shaped bushes (including the Sydney Opera house).
Hands down though, my favourite was the Thomas the Tank Engine hedge with seats intertwined. Absolutely brilliant!

Very lovely gardens. Lots of shade, and beautiful displays of shaped hedge plantings. Quant to see a croquet park included in the space.

Flowers were beautiful although starting to die off. Must have been spectacular when they were all in full bloom. Quite a large park with a sensory garden.
