Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Such a beautiful venue. We've been quite a few times for both adult and children's events in the main theater and the performance space out the back. Great that they have booster cushions for the kids. The ushers are usually quite polite and helpful.

I went to see A Midsummer Night's Dream, and let me just tell you, this building is absolutely gorgeous! I love all the interior decorations, and the lighting was really good as well! I would definitely recommend going to a performance here, it's definitely worth it! I'm really excited to go back soon and have the best experience I can!

The empire theatre will never disappoint. The show you see might though. We saw Carl Barron here and the theatre was clean and cool and the show ran like clockwork. I have been meaning to join the empire members club thing. If you see 5 Shows a year it is of financial benefit to join too. đź‘Ťđź‘Ť

Have been to the Empire Theatre a number of times, it’s a bit awkward with a pram or mobility aid. Seats are comfy, parking on street or council parking only. Steps at front, you have to go up a lift for upper levels, or around the side to get in if you have wheels ( mobility aids or prams).

We had the best time seeing The Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Desert. The box office was really good at changing our tickets over. The venue was really easy to get to. The staff were wonderful. Amenities were clean. And the whole place is absolutely beautiful!!

We did this tour this am and in a small were shown front of house and behind the scenes in each of the four theatres in the complex, plus a run-down of the history of the grand old lady. Alison, our guide, was very knowledgeable and gave us a good insight. Time: just over 30 minutes.

Toowoomba's Empire theatre is a beautiful Art Deco building near the heart of the CBD.
The building is lovingly restored and has an intimate, yet spacious atmosp[here.
Depending on what is showing, (for example a music concert), you have the choice of being really close to the stage, or back just in front of the mixing desk where the acoustics are still superb.
Many world class acts perform at the Empire, and I can highly recommend it as a great venue.

I bought these tickets without being familiar with the set-up. I did not realise that there are venues other than the Empire theatre itself, and ended up buying tickets to a show that was held in the old church next door. The show was OUTSTANDING, (QLD chamber orchestra, Camerata) - this review is for the venue not the show - they get a 6/5.

Firstly, I was slightly disappointed that I did not get to see the show in the art-deco theatre which was a real draw-card. I could not even tour it. The church is adjoining the restaurant and bar, so you can walk in through snazzy under-cover surrounds. I liked that you are allowed to take a drink from the bar into the performance.

The church was fine, but looked very basic and tired inside. You sit on chairs, not pews. Chairs are a plus if you have to sit next to strangers, but a minus for the character of the place. The biggest issue I had was that the SEATING WAS NOT ASSIGNED. This adds a really ikky feel. A sort of jostling at the doors for the best spots. It would be so much nicer if seating was just assigned. Because we wanted to get good seats (see! unassigned seating makes one nervous!) we were there when the tickets said the doors would open - 1 hour before the show started. However the doors did not actually open until 15 minutes before the show started.

Thank you for this feedback - I will be sure to pass it onto Management for future events in the Empire Church Theatre. The final Camerata event for the year will be held in the new Armitage Centre - another experience altogether!
