Darryl took a bus load of us after an industry summit in Gladstone today and we were all impressed by his local knowledge and character. He made dry facts about the industrial areas (our interest) come to life, and he has a rich life experience which showed in the tour through his humour. He obviously has great local experience having lived there for close to 40 years.

Daryl picked us up from the Tannum Sands caravan park, extremely punctual with a very warm greeting. Our tour of Tannum Sands, Boyne Island and Gladstone was outstanding. Daryls local knowledge was great coupled with a good sense of humour made our trip today one which we will remember. Do yourself a favour next and hop on one of his tours you will all be delighted. Thanks for a great morning. Peter and Sandra

Take a tour with Daz on Gladstone Region Tours and you will not be disappointed. Daz has a fabulous rapport with his visitors. His knowledge of local industries, places of interest, history of Gladstone and future outlooks for Gladstone is second to none. His bus is super comfy and his welcome and sense of humour makes you feel relaxed immediately. Do yourself a favour and put aside around 3 hours and book Daz to show you round Gladstone. It's a beautiful city with a lot to offer.....Daz will tell you that and no words could be more true.

We booked a tour with this company and had two busloads from the ship ready to embark on a tour that promised an industry and city tour. Gladstone is basically a port that handles over 130 million tons of goods including coal, grain, fuel, and minerals. It will soon become the hydrogen and ammonia hub of Queensland. Those on the first bus thought the tour was just okay. Unfortunately, the people on the second bus There was much confusion. Apparently, a new bus driver/guide had been hired to drive bus 2 but, for whatever reason, he began accepting payment from walk-ups. A request was made to ask those who were not part of the group to leave the bus but this was not done. Instead, he recommended the group wait 1.5 hours for the bus to come back to the meeting place. The majority left and did their own sightseeing. The owner said he and his partner had been waiting for us since 11 am even though my original communication requested pick up at 12:30; not a good impression for our first visit to Gladstone. This port was added to the itinerary by the cruise ship after they removed the ports of Airl8e Beach and Townsend. Cost was 33 AUD per person.

Hi I presume Joanne, yes there was lots of confusion on that day and mainly due to communication as you said. The tour hadn't been paid for and yes once everyone started disembarking we were waiting for over and hour for your group to turn up. We were only 200m from the ship. Many others had booked and paid and were waiting to embark. Your words to me when I asked where the rest of your group was .. was I have no idea and I don't think they are coming., do we departed. In the mean time our team continued to take bookings from other passengers.. upon returning those who'd you'd said aren't turning up we're waiting and hadn't paid their fare.. 40 others behind them had. I am deeply sorry that happened as it wasn't supposed to be that way. As you said Gladstone is a fantastic place and for 99.9% of those who visited enjoyed their day.

Today my family and I had a fantastic tour of Gladstone, a beautiful coastal city that boasts several industries among many other attractions. Darryl knows the city like the palm of his hand. He was eager to share his knowledge of this city with us. Having experienced this wonderful introductory tour, which I recommend highly to any new visitor to Gladstone, we will make the most of our stay in this city.

I just completed a 5 night tour of the Gladstone region led by the amazing Darryl. There is nothing he doesn't know about the area and he imparted this knowledge in a fun way. The accomodation chosen was perfect with friendly and happy staff. I must say the colourful (I think around 20 seater) bus we travelled on had extremely comfortable seating. I would recommend anyone contemplating a tour of the area to contact Darryl from Gladstone Region Tours to either do an existing tour or ask for maybe even a personalised one for a group of people. He does everything possible to make it a fun and educational journey. Does it sound like I enjoyed every minute of the tour?

There were two groups set up from our cruise ship. We were scheduled to arrive at 12 Noon which we did. Pick up for the first group was 12:30 and the second group was 12:45. He emailed in advance and told us we would be arriving at 10 AM which was not correct. Then accused us of being late. The first group did get on the first bus, but when the second group tried to get on their bus it was already full of other passengers. He does not honor his bookings. There is really not that much to see here anyway so the second group didn't miss much.

Well now I have to say I'm sorry you feel that way when only a tentative booking had been pencilled in. In my defense while I waited for an hour for you to turn up, many others were actually booking paying and lining up. Your group leader turned up and advised me that instead of the initial numbers mentioned, that only 18 had shown up. So off we went only to be greeted by your hostility upon our return. So in summing up I'm sorry that there was confusion regarding the times but at the end of the day we were endeavoring to look after as many as we could. All of those who travelled with us really enjoyed their experience, brief as it was. Safe travels and hope your holiday is great. Kind regards Darryl

We were privileged to participate in the most recent Cultural Awareness Tour hosted by Darryl and Annie under the auspices of Gladstone Regional Council. The tour was both inspiring and informative as we were guided on a gentle walk through an unspoiled private property, hearing of Annie's knowledge and deep connection to country along the way. The owner Bill also provided great insight into the history and characteristics of the property and its natural flora and fauna. Annie's charm, dignity and positivity as she narrated the history and lore of the land and her ancestors was a highlight of this tour. We gained a new awareness of our surroundings and a greater appreciation of our shared heritage. (And the lunch was amazing!)
Many thanks to all!

I went the Gladstone City and Industry hosted by Daryl Braithwaite....yes you read correctly but the one can’t sing. Dazza is one of the best tour hosts I ever encountered....a real down to earth storyteller who talks to you like an old friend. The stories flowed effortlessly and were always interesting and insightful as well as being positive. I learnt so much about this region. Also Richard, a First Nation Elder was on the tour as well and he eloquently told us about the first inhabitants and his life growing up in Gladstone. It will be good when Daryl organises more events with him .

Hahaha! Thanks Gary and no I'm not a good singer! It was nice to see you took the time to stop by our beautiful city and learn about it. I'm really pleased that Richard was with us too. Such a nice chap. I look forward to maybe one day showing you somewhere new. Best wishes Darryl Branthwaite
