Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is the state border between Queensland and New South Wales which runs right through the town, with the area of Coolangatta on one side of the road, and Tweed Heads on the other.
The strange thing about this is that NSW observes daylight savings time and so is currently 1 hour ahead of Queensland, so the time is different depending on which side of the street you are in.
We did the touristy thing of standing on the border so we were in two different states and time zones at the same time, then continued on to Byron Bay.

We dropped in en route to Port McQuarie and spent a couple of hours on the cliff top, walking and looking at the amazing views and also taking in the history of Captain Cook. The Lighthouse is certainly different to many that we have come across on our travels in Australia. Nice lunch in a little cafe across from the lighthouse too.

Visited on Thursday 17th June. Well worth going to check it out. It is situated at Point Danger on the NSW/Qld border. There are great views and plenty of walking tracks there.

Worth a look but wouldn't go there just to see the monument. Nice spot high up on the headland overlooking Rainbow Bay, Snapper Rocks, Froggies, Duranbah, the Tweed River and the Fingal Coast. Elevated panoramic views. Cafes neat by. Sunrise and possibly Sunset views.

The Captain Cook memorial is located on top of the most Easterly point in Queensland, right above Point Danger.
There are a few plaques, set amongst the lighthouse, with some information.
It was built in 1970 to commemorate Captain Cook's discovery of the Eastern Coast.
Parking can be difficult, but worth the wait.

I always come up here during whale season as it is such a good vantage spot to look at the whales as they pass by, not to mention the 180 degree views from Byron to Surfers. There is a cafe across the road, VMR sell ice creams etc.

Excellent view of Fingal Head and beaches near by. Borders between NSW and Queensland. Close to few cafes and gallery. Perfect spot to start your walk to Coolangatta beaches, especially in the morning.

Marine Rescue at Point Danger Coolangatta is next to the Lighthouse and a fabulous walk around on the path ways and grassy area. In this area you can see many dolphins and wales at the right season for them going past. Parking is limited and there is a cafe close by.

Stayed at Snapper rocks in air bnb a few metres from point danger. A lovely spot, beautiful views and lovely atmosphere. Plenty of walking around the point and down to the beach, pleasant for a swim.

One of the few memorials left to remember our history of the people who made this country
The young people are not taught history at school level anymore so our history will not be remembered unless we keep these reminders alive for all to see
