Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Visiting Coolangatta many years ago I could see this beautiful church at night — what drew me to it was the lovely blue neon cross lit up the night . It made me feel Gods presence and I felt calm. Would love to see a photo of it lit up if someone could post. M.

A nice historic church located on Mclean street, well worth the stop to have a look.
It is only a very short drive from the Kirra Hill lookout.

I have very fond memories of St. Augustine Church and School. I started school there until I left to go to High School at Southport. Made my 1st Holy Communion and Conformation there and remember the Corpus Christi processions around the block. It has always been a beautiful Church. My last visit there was the 75th Anvniversary of the parish in 1999 before I left and moved to Sydney to look after my Grandaughter we all moved back to the coast in Dec. 2010.

My brothers and sisters all went to St Augustine's school and of course the church. I can remember when the extensions were done and Father Boland was saying it would take 10 years to pay it off. As an 11 year old this seemed like a very long time. We had my mother & fathers funerals here. When I go back it is lovely to see some of the people from my childhood

It should be an Old beautiful Church, however it is closed unless on Mass Days, so if visitors want to see the interior of this church, they have to visit it on any Mass Days.
Sitting elegantly on a high ground, easy to recognize from a distance, this nice landmark is located at the centre of Coolongata.
Will visit again next time on any Mass Days to see the interior.

The times were right for us and the parishioners inviting. I look forward to a return service at St Augustine's. It was an easy walk from our accommodation and a swim after mass was enjoyable.

In my humble opinion is the most beautiful church in the city of Coolangatta, it is located not far from the center or from Kurrawa Beach, and due to its high bell tower is visible in the distance from many parts of the city.
Aesthetically beautiful and definitely recommend a visit, but remind that if you go out of hours Mass the church is closed, and you can visit it outside only.

I attended the 8:00 AM Sunday mass (only mass on Sundays) at Saint Augustine Catholic Church since it was located near our hotel. We were not aware that the road to the church was on a steep terrain. I use a wheelchair and my husband had difficulty with the significant incline. The church is lovely, the visiting priest gave a thoughtful homily and the parishioners were friendly.

We're looking for signatures in the visitors book around 1937 - 1940. Our parents met and married as a result of this visitors book- Henry Haydock and Hilda Nolan. We're wondering what year their names appeared in it. If you can be of any help, could you email me on:- 0427985405
With thanks, Helen Yeates( née Haydock )

Hi Helen, I think you'd need to contact the church office and ask to look up the records. Try the contact details on their website: coolangatta-tugunparish. org. au. Good luck!
