After visiting the Glandore Cellar Door yesterday it's easy to see why Glandore is the 2020 Cellar Door of the Year. Lachlan, the cellar master, was very helpful with the signing in at the door through to giving our party a very educational and interesting wine tasting experience. My friends and I were very impressed and we'll have no hesitation in recommending Glandore to anyone who is looking for a friendly and intuitive guide to the selection of fine wines.

A group of us stopped in for a wine tasting and thoroughly enjoyed it.

We are amateur wine drinkers which we expressed on arrival and we left feeling much more knowledgable. Thanks Lilly!

We had a lovely view over the vineyard from the balcony table.

The whole experience at Glandore was amazing.
The staff were beautiful - fun, energetic and detailed.
The chocolate was delicious.
The wine was even more delicious.
Glandore was the only winery we purchased wine from because the product was outstanding.

Thank you so much Glandore for having our crazy group!

Being a regular hunter visitor, we were excited to discover this new boutique - the 2020 cellar door of the year. To be completely honest, the wines we tired are of high hunter standards, however the tasting experience is nothing special and falling completely short of how we would expect it to be. Out of the 7 cellar doors we visited in 2 days - some we are member with, nearly every places outshines Glandore in terms of explanation on the wine, the passion and most importantly the engagement and connection from the Guy who served us. He might have had a huge day. Despite the disappointment, we were keen to become the member at the end of the tasting but was only told we could not skip the September order even if we order the 12 bottle pack now which is one month early ! We left with just two bottles and there was no mentioning of the tasting fees we paid a week early either. This place has so much potential but on this occasion, we left with disappointment.

If our experience at Glandore Estate is anything to go by, it will be a long time before it wins its much mentioned 'Cellar Door of the Year' award again. Perhaps it was because we weren't young and cool like other tables of tasters. Perhaps it was because we were served by the 'mature' and casual team member who was quite perfunctory in the completion of her duties, not really interested in us and with whom we had to work very hard to engage. Perhaps it was the fact that the wines were, to all four of our palates, not that great. We actually think that the gorgeous pups, Nutmeg and Phoebe, were more pleased to see us than any of the staff who, it seemed to us, were showing signs of complacency and lacked authenticity. This was the only vineyard of 6 that we visited where we paid our tasting fees of $40 for four people and left without purchasing. With so many other, wonderful, warm and fabulously engaging vineyards to visit in the Hunter Valley, we probably won't return.

TO BE AVOIDED
We were looking forward to our first visit at Glandore, Sunday lunch on a long weekend… Ordered a cheese and charcuterie platter in addition to a winter tasting, anticipating a lovely lunch for the day…
What a disappointment! It all stared well, we were nicely greeted and then seated, our fur baby was looked after given they had a doggie event as part of the D’vine festival … then everything changed - we were offered pizza but we declined and asked for our pre-ordered platter… After that, we were ignored for a bit, the guy (grey haired) who was serving us came sporadically pouring some samples of whites, however took the tasting list away and didn’t explained anything about the wines he was pouring… we noticed him looking much better after other guests… it was taking him a very long time to come to us, to the point we only tried about 3 whites and a rose in the span of an hour. Then he disappeared and another lady approached us with a Pinot Noir, saying he’s gone to lunch! And that was it, we were sitting there for more than 30 minutes, waiting to be given the other reds to taste. None of the staff came to our table, whilst the lady (she said she was from UK) that served us the PN was affably looking after other tables, chatting to other guests, making sure they were ok… not us though!
After sitting there by ourselves for about 40 mins after being served the PN, we stood and left totally ignored by the staff, no word of acknowledgment or anything… like we were invisible…. Paid over &100 for two people, not great value given we only tasted about half of what we were supposed to and the cheese & charcuterie platter was only half earthen, as the whole point was to have it with wine!
The wines we tasted were mediocre, nothing above average also, so i would not recommend Glandore, You can get much better value somewhere else, there are so many much better places in the Hunter ! BEST AVOIDED

Visited as part of a twofatblokes tour. Lachlan was very entertaining and down to earth, along with being knowledgeable and informative. The wines were paired very nicely with Chocolate Truffles. The Winery dog was unobtrusive and playful. Well worth a look.

The winery was recommended by a local. We had been to the Hunter many times but just discovered this little gem. Innovative European varietals to try and these were very good. Reasonably priced wines. Went in there to buy a couple of bottles and ended up with a case. Aimee was very helpful and her suggestions helped us pick and choose our favourites. Joining as a member also gives you half price cases as well as invites to some of their social events. Well recommended.

The only thing better than a members’ tasting at Glandore is staying at the Homestead on-site so “home” is a few steps away afterwards. Geoff and Aimee ran a great tasting in the beautiful members’ lounge. Visiting at the beginning of the week rather than the weekend meant lots of space and individual attention. We have been coming here for years and will continue to do so. There are some new and exciting tasting experiences coming up too, we can’t wait.

A must on any trip to the Hunter Valley is Glandore Estate. The personalised service received by Geoff was nothing short of spectacular. And if you want your day made, to sit and chat with winemaker Nick it will blow your mind. The passion in his voice for his wines and the region are reflected in the amazing products that are pouring. There will not be any future trips to the region where we don’t pop in. Great team, great place GREAT wines.
