What a great day of wine tasting and a fun way to get around the wineries on the the horse drawn carriage.
I booked the full day wine tasting tour (including lunch) for my wifes birthday and we both had a great time.
First of all I have to say thanks to all the team at HVH as the day went without a hitch even though we were running a little late at one stage we had caught up easily by the end of the day. Hayden was our horseman for the day (he had some help from a young lady in the morning but unfortunately I didn't get her name, sorry). The horses were beautiful examples and were wonderful around people allowing us to pat them, feed them and have photos taken right up next to them.
The included lunch was excellent and whilst they say that lunch will be at one of a number of locations on the day we had lunch at Blaxlands restaurant and the food and service were excellent.
We visited 3 wineries before lunch and then another winery after luch as well as a visit to the Smelly Cheese and Chocolate shops.
The weather was fortunately bright and sunny although quite windy but this dindt cause any concern.
The one thing that stood out on the day was that the majority of the travel between wineries was not using the roads (apart from a short stretch at the start) and we found ourselves enjoying views of the wineries and surrounding areas from a totally different perspective as we were taken through the back trails in the fields and 'bush'. It may have been a bit bumpy at times but it wasnt as bad as I thought it might be and it only added to the fun of the day.
All in all this was a fantastic day with excelent tastings at each winery that showed up differences between each wineries approach to the making of thier wines. I should also point out that the people providing the tastings at each cellar door were very friendly and informative and each tasting was unique and thouroghly enjoyable.
10 out of 10 HVH!!!

We booked a horse and carriage ride for my 91yo Father-In-Law for Xmas. What a wonderful experience. To see him smiling and happy and still talking about it and how it brought back so many memories for him, melts our heart. But it truly was the tour guides/drivers that made our day, Arne and Ashley. The epitome of Aussie, so friendly and welcoming and knowledgeable. You made Col's day, he will talk about this well into next year and beyond, you both went out of your way to make his carriage ride that little bit more special, allowing him to ride shotgun and hold the reins. I personally will be booking a girls day when the weather cools down a little and I would highly recommend your company. Thanks again for making his day, you are so wonderful.

Welcoming and comfortable experience. While it rained all day it was a lovely way to experience the Hunter valley sarroundings taking the view at a slower place. We got to taste wines from winery's we hadn't been to before . Both tour guides were really friendly and engaging and went above and beyond to keep us dry. The day was enjoyable despite the weather it was a great experience watching the horses and listening to how the guide handled them. 10 out of 10 would recommend as a different way to travel around the Hunter.

I made a booking on 04/03/2021 for 8 people for the 1-hour Horse Ride Vineyard Trail for Easter Sunday on 04/04/2021 at 5pm. On the day of the ride at 2:27pm, I received a missed call from Hunter Valley Horses. At 2:50pm, 2 hours and 10 minutes before our scheduled ride, I received a text message from Hunter Valley Horses stating the following: “Please be advise you’re (sic) booked horse ride for one hour this afternoon at 5pm will now change to a half an hour ride due to the change in time with end of daylight savings. Please advise if this suits you? Hunter Valley Horses”. Upon receiving this message we immediately contacted Hunter Valley Horses to enquire about the last minute change to our booking. The lady who answered the phone told us that we can either ride for half an hour or cancel the booking and told us that we had no other option. We then enquired whether we could arrive earlier and begin our 1 hour horse riding tour at 4:30pm. She said it is not possible because there was another group riding at that time and there was also another group riding after us. We then asked her the pricing of the half an hour ride and whether we would be taken on the same scenic vineyard trail that we booked the lady began raising her voice at us for no reason at all and giving us passive aggressive responses. It was absolutely unnecessary and unprofessional, especially when they had doubled booked us. No apologies were offered to us given the mishandling of our booking.
We had specifically planned a one-hour horse riding tour to complete our Easter Sunday celebrations. We did not want to only ride a horse for half an hour as we would have had to miss out on the scenic trail and by the time we would have got used to riding the horses we would have to get off and not be able to enjoy the experience. Additionally, after witnessing unreasonably rude and arrogant attitude towards us on the telephone, we were really shocked and did not wish to ruin our day dealing with an obnoxious person and an incompetent business. When we asked whether there will be cancellation charges, the lady was disrespectful and refused to provide her name to us.
I could not believe how unreasonably rude Hunter Valley Horses was especially when they had double booked us. I do not understand why having booked 1 month in advance that Hunter Valley Horses could not foresee that there was day-light savings on the day especially as they are running a business they should have been aware and prepared beforehand and not informing their guests two hours before a scheduled ride.
I absolutely do not recommend booking horse riding with Hunter Valley Horses especially if you do not wish to waste your time.

What we were looking forward to you all year to celebrate our anniversary was far from enjoyable.
Our full day tour experience was less than enjoyable. Quite a few things went wrong on the day, and even if for unforeseen circumstances the companies ability to satisfy customers has been far from acceptable.
After 2 more recent emails, chasing up the refund that was promised to us a month ago we have received no response and no refund. So just broken promises.
Unfortunately I would be not confident to recommend this company to anyone wanting a relaxing day out. It's a lot of money to come away the way we did. Just want to clarify also that COVID or no COVID should not make any difference to customer service. Same as we are really busy or not. If this is your business, its your job to respond to customers and their questions etc,....
WE wish you every success in the future, but we wont be riding again with you.

We loved the fresh air and experience with the horses. Our driver Arn was friendly and helpful and was happy to answer questions. Our first stop was at Small Mouth Vodka and Gin and this was a great way to start the day, our host was friendly and knowledgeable. The best winery was at Pokolbin Estate where Graeme (I think) was very professional and happy to answer questions. The wine here was very nice. My only constructive feedback would be to choose another place for lunch. The selection of food at the cafe we went to limited (understand due to time constraints etc) but we all felt that it could have been better. Overall we loved the day and loved the experience with the two horses Banjo and Jack and appreciated Arn's fun attitude.

We started the day with shots and ended it with cheese, and had a great time in between. The tour is great taster to the Hunter Valley, covering off wineries, spirits, cheese and chocolate. All in the comfort of a 2 horse power, air conditioned vehicle ;)
The included lunch at Blaxlands was very, very good and I recommend getting the steak! As newbies to wine tours (we normally just do it ourselves) we were very pleased with the day, although we would have liked to visit one more winery.
If you want to book a wine tour with a difference and have a very enjoyable day out I would highly recommend booking with HVH.

Firstly, the wine tour on horse carriage was absolutely amazing. A big thumbs up to our drivers Ashely and Arnie (aka Bill), they have such great knowledge of the local wineries and incredible control over the horses and were a lot of fun to banter with.
Ashley was very accommodating as we were running late in the morning. Lunch at Blaxland Restaurant was amazing, we went to 3 wineries, smelly cheese shop and chocolate factory, very eventful day.
Only issue was when booking it was sometimes difficult to get through to the mobile number which is the only contact number.

Kelly and her two impeccably groomed horses took us on a carriage ride when we visited Hunter Valley in December 2022. The carriage fit the eight of us comfortably, and the horses did not look like they were under strain, thank goodness. I tend to avoid “fun” activities with animals out of fear that they would suffer. These fears did not surface during the ride when Kelly was managing the horses.

Kelly also interacted well with the two teens in our group, answering their questions knowledgeably, and took care of the elderly in our group with her safety measures.

In addition, Kelly let us fit in a short shopping trip when we passed by some shops during the ride. She patiently waited for us to finish our shopping without deducting the time spent from the overall duration of the ride, as she did not have customers immediately after us. We are all very grateful to Kelly for this.

Overall, the experience with Kelly and her lovely horses is recommended for a fun and safe way to spend time in Hunter Valley.

The 3-winery tour was good. We were a family of 8 with 2 children ages 11 and 14
1st Winery - Pokolbin estate was the best both in wine and service. Jordan was great friendly, passionate and catered for the kids which was fantastic. 2nd winery Tamburlaine we were rushed by the person that served us. Wanted to get us out asap and didn't cater for the kids. The lady was hard to understand and had a mask on which made it harder to understand what she was explaining. 3rd winery McGuigan, Joel was great, passionate and friendly. Unfortunately, they too didnt cater for the kids.
Steve our driver was friendly and the horses worked very hard taking us from place to place. Carriage tours have a look at reviewing your wineries that you visit.
