Description:

The Wilkinson's were true pioneers of the Australian winemaking industry....

The Wilkinson's were true pioneers of the Australian winemaking industry.

Despite two earlier ventures in Australia, the Wilkinson family returned after the brothers Frederick and John had studied winemaking in France and Germany. In 1866 the family acquired the present site of the Audrey Wilkinson vineyard.

Living in tents, they cleared the land and planted vines which were sourced from the MacArthur Onslow property.

By the early 1900s, Audrey Wilkinson collected awards around Australia for his Hock, claret and fortified wines. Large quantities were exported to London.

Audrey committed to leading edge technology which, at the end of the 19th century, included open cement fermenters and steam powered crushers and hoppers.

It was here the Audrey Wilkinson legacy was born.

We arrived at Audrey Wilkinson late last Friday with only about half an hour to go before trading ceased for the day. Phil was exceptional and moved through the wines thoroughly and confidently with enough time for him to convince us being part of he wine club was a must! Phil's level of professionalism and knowledge would see us visit... More

Stopped by here - mostly because it was recommended and I would also do the same. The view alone is enough to make sure you go. It was busy and they charge $5 to taste. Service was charming but a little slow. Wine was good without being a show stopper. A must see, but don't feel you will spend a... More

We arrived with a beautiful group of friends for a wine experience, anticipating taking home some lovely wines... until the senior manager (we assume) arrived without any previous interaction and decided it was funny to belittle and insult us. He proceeded to play an air banjo, inappropriately suggesting familial relationships, and making references to "Deliverance". We are all good for... More

We were recommended by local friends to make sure we attended a tasting at Audrey Wilkinson Wines in the Hunter Valley wine region. We ensured this was our afternoon stop on our self drive tour and it certainly paid dividends! We were greeted by a very friendly staff member, Phil, who made us welcome and proceeded to enlighten and entertain... More

Upgrade to the premium tasting for a fantastic experience. This was a paid experience that was reimbursed on cellar exit purchase. 10 wines from the list were picked. Up on the top floor of the beautiful building with stunning views. At sunset the views over the hunter valley were amazing with kangaroos and rolling vineyard hills.
