Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This tour was recommended by our friends who live nearby in Newcastle. It did not disappoint. Glen, our guide, was amazing. We did the Snap Shot half day tour. We did 9 wines with cheese pairing at the Two Fat Blokes vineyard and then visited two more vineyards. In all we must have tried 20+ wines. There were 14 of us on this minibus tour and by the end (after much alcohol) we were all firm friends. You can buy the wine you sample at any of the vineyards if you want to. This is a good tour,

This is a full day but what a day. We enjoyed 4 different vineyards and a brewery. Our guide was Andy who was engaging, knowledgeable, and fun throughout. Plus he could double for Rod Stewart.

We were looked after from minute one. We started with Cheese and Wine from Two Fat Blokes own label, all the pairings were good. Further tastings lead us to Wine lab , after an excellent lunch, that paired Wines with Chocolate. Strangely they all worked.

Finally we finally finished at Potters Brewery to enjoy excellent craft beers.

One of our party was celebrating their birthday and Andy went the extra mile to mark the event.

We finished with a sing song close off an excellent day.

We had an exceptional half day private tour with Paul in the Masserati. Paul was very knowledgeable about wine & the local area and quite a character. He was interested in our wine preference & went out of his way to change our itinerary to ensure that we had the most personal & enjoyable experience. Thanks to Paul we would highly recommend this tour to all our friends & family.

On Thursday 9th July we had a half day tour with Twi Fat Blokes Gourmet Tours for 4 pax. We chose Two Fat Blokes based on the description on their web site, reviews on Trip Advisor & a recommendation from our accommodation.

Our experience fell way short of being, “Informative & professional, with a knowledgeable & entertaining tour guide.”

We write this feedback with an awareness of the current situation regarding COVID-19.

However, we believe the lack of communication and quality control of their product should be evaluated and addressed when people are paying a premium price based on the experience promised.

The most disappointing aspect of our day was back at the Two Fat Blokes Gourmet Kitchen where it was advertised, we would try the most popular cheese and wine matching experience in the Hunter Valley. We arrived just before dark due to being picked up late and as a result we were seated outside in the dark without any proper heating or light. We requested a candle for light which was provided but the gas fire could not be lit as they had run out of gas, nor were we offered indoor seating as was advertised. The indoor area appeared to be packed up and the staff member commented that she needed to get home to her children.

We understood that not all cheese options were available but what was served had been set up much earlier and was less than appetizing along with the soggy crackers.

A very underwhelming experience all round but also because the guide was obviously unprepared to present the cheese and wine effectively due to lack of training, nor how to remedy the situation to accommodate us at the venue. This was not the ‘learn and laugh’ with an entertaining guide as advertised.

We would like to note that at Hungerford Hill Estate our tasting began with being served by the accounts lady who had been thrown into the job and openly admitted that she knew very little about the wines. It was only after questions were asked that we were given an experienced cellar door staff member to guide the rest of our tasting.

Our experience at Glandore Estate Wines with Aimee was great! This venue lived up to expectations of a professional and welcoming wine tasting experience.

Unfortunately, our guide being new to the job was little more than a driver. Whilst she was very friendly, it was apparent that little to no specific training was given to prepare her for her role as an ‘informative, knowledgeable and entertaining tour guide’ and a representative of the company.

We spent three days exploring the Hunter and were impressed by how other establishments have adapted in these difficult times without compromising professionalism and guest experience.

Start to finish a fantastic experience. Easy to book, good communication and a really fun time on our full day tour. Julz was funny, engaging, knowledgeable and clearly loves what she does and the community she lives in. All the winery hosts were lovely and interesting, loved the cheese and dessert pairings, and lunch was delicious and filling. Highly recommend booking with Two Fat Blokes!

We’ve just returned from the Hunter where we had the best day. We did a private tour with Bill who was quite simply - legendary.
His local knowledge and wine knowledge, wit, conversation and the wineries he curated for us made the day spectacular. He also led a cheese and wine pairing at 2 Fat Blokes own Winery which was also fab.
Also Huge shout to Chrissi at Charteris, Lee at Hart and Hunter and Leslie at Ernest Hill who were all fantastic as well. We got their full attention at each stop which made it so much more personal, informative and fun.
We are in Sydney for two weeks and this is the day to beat!
Thank you again.

Tour manager had no time for us and was late and very abrupt. Overheard him speaking poorly about our group to who we think may have been his management. We were very respectful and well behaved, and were just there to have a good time.

Have since been told that there are much better wineries then the ones we were taken to on this tour.

The only winery that stood out from the $280 tour was ‘Glandore’. Do yourself a favour and try their red Shiraz. Only highlight from the tour to be honest. You can also visit here for the same tasting we had included in this tour for aprox $20.

Food included in the $280 is a sandwich for lunch. Will do individual tastings myself next time and visit nicer wineries for an eighth of the price.

By far the worse experience, no customer service skills, rude and abrupt staff. Were told “we’ve had people like you come here before” not sure if that was aimed towards the fact that our group were mixed cultured coloured people.

Booked a cheese tasting, arrived at 11am and was abused from the hosting staff in front of everyone on the premises was really disgusting behaviour. Caused a massive seen. Was told to leave the premises as one of our group of friends had a beer in his hand. No one was intoxicated first time ever going to a tasting, really ruined the start of our friends 40th Birthday. It was embarrassing as it then felt as if everyone On the premises were steering at us. Then someone from
The group went in to go sort and calm the issue and then over here’s the staff talking to other staff about “watch those people”! Well that makes it even more as if we were singled out coloured people.

Did not get an apology from the staff at all!!

Will never come here again, will never recommend this place.

Thanks for ruining the beginning of my friends 40th Bday!

My husband and I recently celebrated our wedding anniversary in the Hunter and decided to do the "Uncork The Hunter" tour with Two Fat Blokes - Honestly, we were absolutely blown away!! at no point were we hungry during the day (have done other tours and been left hanging out for food and end up getting too full of wine.) the food whether it be the cheese and wine pairing, chocolate and wine pairing or the beautiful lunch prepared by TFB was so delicious, the wineries that we went to were 'not the average' or 'not the normal' and you really were treated like royal. Bill was an outstanding tour operator, his knowledge and understanding of the Hunter Valley, Wine Industry and local history was outstanding, I tend to ask another of questions and he was very patient with me, no question was too much - we had such a wonderful time, it truly was so brilliant. For my husband who's not really a wine drinker, he turned around and enjoyed the wines so much he will actually sit down and ahare. bottle with me now! Plus having a brewery as the last stop was great for a nice change!! We will be back!

Julz picked us up at our hotel. She made sure she knew where everyone was from and she proceeded to work her magic so we all got chatting. The 5 businesses we visited all had diverse offerings with something for everyone. We tasted numerous wines of all varieties, ciders, beer, cheeses galore and a few chocolates (could have been more chocolates 😬).

Lunch was provided and was extravagant and the bus karaoke on the way home was excellent! Alcohol clearly helped 😂😂.

Thank you Julz. You are definitely worth more money!
