Every time we have been in the Hunter Valley, we make sure we go to Usher Tinklers. Set in an old church, plenty of space, love the tasting where you order the cold meats with cheeses on a platter with home made bits and pieces. It's always a huge platter and always so much fun.

My partner and I have visited Usher Tinkler many times and have always had excellent experiences. Today however, we visited with friends and were very let down by the service. The woman who served us looked and acted as though she didn’t want to be there, which made for a very awkward experience for us. She seemed to have little knowledge of the wines she was serving us and was not friendly at all, we also waited quite a while in between pours. I believe that Usher Tinkler has the potential to be one of the best cellar doors in the Hunter Valley however their service was not up to scratch this visit. Thankfully wine and salami platters were lovely

Our very first stop in the HV. Fantastic wines - really loved the quirky labels and novo tastes. Love the Nose2tail Semillon. The smokey shiraz from the 2020 harvest was interesting too. Had a charcuterie platter to accompany the tasting. Was a bit hesitant initially that for a $40 platter we could only select one meat for BUT the platter was amazing. A huge amount of meat (truffle salami was amazing) accompanied by fresh figs, orange, pickled vegies, grapes and sensational honeycomb. I'm GF and they gave me an entire box of crackers to go with it whilst my husband had both crackers and sourdough that he says was fantastic. Sat in lovely leather couches under stain glass windows from the original church with a glorious view out of large picture windows of the vineyard and hills. So picturesque. Highly recommend a stop by Usher Tinkler - in the end one of the best vineyards we stopped at in the HV.

Great space and while the nose-to-tail shiraz was good, the fortified wine, "Mr. T's" was the standout. They offer a meat and cheese plate which is absolutely enormous. It's a full meal.

My husband and I visit the Hunter Valley regularly and this was by far the best wine tasting and cheese board experience we had. We did the wine tasting with the cheese board and it worked out as a lovely lunch. The wines and service was great, nicely detail and allowing a good amount of time to make your way through the tasting. However if you love a good cheese board, this place is worth visiting. The board was $80 for a choice of 2 (1x cheese & 1x cured meat, or 2x cheese or meat) but don't be turned off by the price, the serving size was generous for 2 people and it included ample bread and crackers (charcoal crackers were divine!), we went for the goats cheese and truffle salami, for which the serving size was generous. The board also came with pickled carrot, gherkins and asparagus made by the winery, which was delicious. There was also fruit and honeycomb, it was amazing. If you have a group of 4-6, bigger boards are available too. I highly recommend a visit over lunch or afternoon tea if you are in the Hunter Valley.
