Nice place for a stroll in the sunshine
As Australia’s largest display garden, it’s a worthwhile visit. The entry is about $40 for an adult (would consider reasonable given the amount of work to maintain). Allow 2-3 hours to explore every area. The gardens are mapped out nicely, however signage is very limited on the paths and easy to lose your way. The majority of the garden is beautiful. The amusement rides are only accessible at certain times of the year. Storybook area is a little creepy, and the frog pond seemed pedestrian, not sure if the tacky xmas lights are ever taken down. Great place to get the step count up.

Quite expensive for the time required
Spent about an hour & a half strolling around gardens. Some are very nice, others not so good. Unless you want to take a picnic or take kids to see all the “Mega creatures”, you will struggle to spend more time & get value for money from the quite expensive entrance fee.
Hi, thank you for taking the time to post a review of your experience. We are sorry to hear the event wasn’t up to your standards. Hopefully, this won't put you off about visiting the Gardens on another occasion.

    Beautiful gardens
Set in the Hunter Valley wine region and located near a small shopping village is this excellent garden. The entry fee is a bit steep but when you take in the size of the gardens and how well they have been developed you can appreciate the fee. The gardens are set out with a number of themed areas including Japanese and Chinese garden, a rose garden and a traditional Italian pavilion. There are over 8km of walking trails and there are several excellent viewpoints overlooking the gardens.
Hi. We are glad to hear you enjoyed your visit. Looking forward to seeing you again!

    Beautiful Gardens - Wonderfully themed
The Gardens are beautifully maintained, and there themes flow through the gardens The Dinosaur theme was running while we were visiting and it was extremely well done, and an absolute a hit for parents with their children. The children we saw while there loved all the dinosaurs, and were obviously very excited about their time at the Gardens. We didn't see one bored child during the couple of hours we spend there ourselves.

    Fun in the garden!
Visited just before the school holidays when the ‘Snow Time’ festival was happening. Given it was Winter, understandably, a lot of the gardens were somewhat barren and ‘dry’. Felt the entry fee was a bit steep however knowing it ensured the gardens upkeep helped, walking tracks could do with a makeover though! 3 areas we enjoyed were the Nursery Rhyme gardens, Formal garden with an enormous surrounding hedge and lastly the Japanese Garden being the highlight. Would still recommend.

    Great experience. Wrong price point.
We visited the Hunter Valley Gardens for their 'Snow Time in the Garden' but felt it was overpriced. The kids had a great time, as we don't have snow where we live but when you have to pay for rides, on top of the entry price, it seems quite expensive. We arrived after lunchtime and therefore missed out on ice-skating but still had to pay the same price as everyone else. I would rate the gardens and the experience but not the price.
Hi there, thank you for taking the time to post about your experience. We are sorry to hear you find the Snow Time in the Gardens expensive. Our team work very hard for many months, and we employ many additional locals to assist in setting up this activity. The price reflects the many people it takes to create and manage activities of this nature. All icy activities are included in the Snow Time entry ticket. We recommend arriving early and securing your skating session to avoid disappointment.

Great time with Winter time in the Gardens!
A great place to spend time. If wishing to join in the extra activities then should plan at least half a day. Only thing was they got us to leave half an hour before actual closing time which was disappointing. Well worth a visit!

    Stunning Gardens
These are beautiful Gardens and very pretty even in the winter months. Only reason I dropped a star was that the Cafe has a fairly limited menu for such a beautiful location and the gift shop is closed. Has been for a while as my last visit in November 2022 it was closed then. Could be a better experience with better Food & Shopping

    Beautiful Gardens
The garden is split into themed gardens that are easy to find, all quite different and photo worthy. Even though we visited in September, the weather was really hot (34 degrees) and we noted that there were no water stations throughout the garden. I appreciate that revenue is made from selling water bottles at the cafe, but given the ongoing effects of climate change, water refresh stations throughout the garden are a must. A cafe onsite allows for purchased refreshments. Allow a few hours to wander as the cost is $36/adult for a visit.
Hi, there. Thank you for your review. Visitors are allowed to bring new closed water bottles. Hopefully, we will see you again soon.

    Pricey and lacking themes advertised
Disappointing with few saving graces- the oriental garden was nice and the storybook area was cute. The Chinese garden contained bamboo and no other theming, very small. The Indian garden had nothing except 2 elephant statues. Having visited in October, we were overwhelmed with Christmas decorations, what a shame. Then we found the Aussie themed stuff hiding around the back in the shade! Expensive for the overall outcome. My advice- don't go this late in the year unless you happen to love excessive Xmas. And go at night, might be more interesting all lit up.

I used to love the gardens, but now it’s overpriced and a waste of money. $38 per adult a lot of displays are outdated or damaged. Gift shop was closed. Really disappointing & very sad we wasted money we could’ve used to explore elsewhere

Really disappointed with the gardens. We were expecting much more for $38 per person. Definitely not good value for money.
Flowers in some of the borders would help.
We’ve been to much better gardens for a fraction of the cost. Seems like a money making exercise by the owners. Some reinvestment is required

I was expecting better looking gardens. Just the 2 oriental gardens were the better kept out of all of them. The Botanical gardens in Sydney, Hobart, Cairns & Perth are heaps better and they're free. The Fairy tale Garden was cute because of the statues and stories - not really a garden. Maybe drastically reduce your prices to adults $10 & kids $5. Give it a miss. Wouldn't go again.

Very disappointed in the deterioration of the gardens. They are not being maintained. This used to be world class and is very embarrassing now. The lights were pleasant and lovely in spots but plenty were falling apart. The gift shop was an absolute joke. Rubbish. I very much hope it is restored to its former state.

I read that the Christmas lights were bad, old & rundown. I wasn’t looking forward to going but I was absolutely thrilled with them. So many gorgeous lights & themes. Great fun park, food & drinks. Would definitely recommend, it’s was amazing 🤩

Slightly disappointed seeing the same lights from 9 years earlier, and tattered and torn. Not impressed that we couldn't take in a bottle of water and had to pay $6.
The walkways are very uneven with sections of witches hats placed over ditches. The fine stones on the walkway were a pain, getting into shoes or under your feet with sandles on. They need to be upgraded. Not good for children or adults with walking disabilities. Food is too expensive for a family, charging $15 for a small pizza $12 foe small chips.

One of the best experiences of the weekend. The family loved the themed gardens, the cafe was great and the flowers in full bloom.

While these gardens are large with a strong underlying infrastructure they are in truth disappointing. No doubt the climate is an issue re the types of plantings possible, but we had expected a lot more flowers given that we are in spring. But even worse was the fact that half of the gardens are completely ruined at the moment by huge numbers of large, tacky Christmas decorations, completely changing the whole gardens. If we had told this before going in we wouldn't have wasted our time going.

A series of beautiful gardens laid out around some nice small lakes. Each garden is not extensive but a small taste of different styles.
Well maintained and an easy stroll - picturesque and a wonderful way to while away a few hours.
