Visiting my daughter in Orange and thought we’d have a look at this park.
It’s a place for everyone...play equipment, glass houses, duck ponds ( with the CUTEST ducklings ever) ,rose garden, community shop, expansive lawns, and gorgeous trees and gardens.. spring is certainly the time to visit. It’s glorious.. there’s a large Aviary....but most of the birds must of been hiding- couldn’t see many at all....happy with that, they should be free.
Will definitely return..

Cook Park has many large magnificent trees and it is an easy walk around the paths. The lawns and gardens are well maintained, and the park is a good example of the city’s pride in its public spaces. Well worth a visit.

The town of Orange was a absolute eye opener for us on a recent road trip. The city is grand with wide tree lined streets, with Cook Park a miniature botanical gardens within the main precinct. Some fantastic old trees and a glass house of begonia's ...all magnificent. All very well maintained and looked after. Recommend a visit.

The trees and buildings in this park are amazing but I was shocked to see an aviary containing native birds. They consisted of sulphur crested cockatoos and gallahs and various finches. The aviary was too small for much flight and had no branches, stimulation or toys to keep them occupied. Quite frankly this kind of exhibit does not belong in an unsupervised council park and I would question the fact that it needs to exist at all - we are not in Victorian times any more. These birds belong in nature not a cage. There was very little information about why they are there - maybe they are rescued birds who can't fly any more? Even so they should not be living in such a depressing environment.

This is quite a beautiful park with just about everything you could possibly expect to be in a park actually being there.

Apart from the fantastic range of trees (elms, cedars, pines etc), shrubs, plants and flowers there is a bandstand, a duck pond/lake with its very own "Nessie" and a bridge over it, some fountains, an aviary, a fernery, some WWII artillery pieces, a children's playground and what we considered to be the piece de resistance, the conservatory filled with the most beautiful display of Begonias. Fabulous and well worth a look.

Not very big but has many features - some tall English Elms, mature trees providing wonderful avenue, a duck pond, a timber bandstand, bird aviary, sunken flower garden. ,ww2 guns at the heritage entry.

During summer, spring and autumn this park would be worth a stroll. Winter would be pleasant - more so if there was snow (which would be rare).

There are toilets, play equipment for kids, an arts and craft shop.

Cook Park is a beautiful oasis in city which clearly values its trees. Amazing old trees, well kept lawns and plenty of benches for a quiet read in a tranquil setting. I was lucky enough to catch the Begonia House in full flower, a very special experience. Lots of young families were having a great time watching the ducks and playing on the swings. A lovely park.

You must not miss this amazing little park in the middle of Orange. It has something for everyone and I couldn’t believe the number of locals and tourists wandering through this oasis of gardens, colors, birds and secret coves. I was looking for a display of autumn leaves and it did not disappoint but you could go at any time and see something different and easily lose an hour or two. Congratulations Orange Council this is a credit to you.

What a beautiful park, particularly at this time of year, with the big deciduous trees changing and leaves falling. The father and son Cook team created an incredible legacy. So many pretty spaces. So many places to sit quietly. The park was full of littlies and their parents or grandparents, which is as good a recommendation as any. My only beef is the avery: birds should be “freed to the chains of the skyways” (Dylan). Tear it down.

Having been born in Orange this park holds beautiful memories of regular visits.
I was shocked to see the lack of interest the current city council in its presentation and
Plantings.

There were few beds planted with colourful blooms and many signs of neglect throughout the park.

Most appalling was the begonia house that was filled with lots of common garden plants which were all dead from lack of water. Who grows carnations, geraniums, and assorted outdoor plants in a glass house.
The steady stream of tourist that we’re entering were as disappointed as my group were.

The duck pond looked sparse and unloved and had 3 ducks …….far cry from the abundance that lived there in the past and brought joy to the many young families who visited.
