About
Cargo Road Wines is a story of a Passion for the art of winemaking. We are a holistically managed Vineyard, Winery & Cellar Door – focused on Sustainability and regeneration. We take pride in being the world's first winery to be part of a Carbon Monitoring program. Recently receiving our 2020 EOV report. We have nutrient rich, deep red-basalt soil that is fed regeneratively through plants – ensuring the best for the vines, grapes, and the wine, of course! Let our Cellar door be the story of sustainability. Why is the grass so long? We will answer that for you. Open 11-5pm, 7 days for Tasting and Sales. Booking on our website is essential. Tasting is $10 a head and not redeemable upon purchase – (the cost of a glass of wine at a pub) We offer a cheese platter that can include local cured meats and 3 vegetarian friendly handmade Italian raviolis. If you need a perk up, we will happily make you a coffee also. Also available for private events and functions. Please email enquiries.

James is a winemaker who is really passionate about his craft and the land. He is making some big reds that drink very smoothly. Also some really nice white varietals. Would highly recommend a visit here.

Great place to enjoy a wine tasting. We were greeted by Whiskey the whippet and then entered a very interesting room with paintings, a different fireplace amongst other items. We were taken out on to a lovely deck overlooking the vineyards and tasted some lovely wines. Unfortunately not all wines were available due to fires and staff shortage but the Sauvignon Blanc was one of the best that we have tasted. The red drinker of the group enjoyed his as well.

Great wines, views and a great tasting. I have been here twice before and it was excellent both times. Very impressive ecological certification as well. Hopefully more vineyards follow their lead!

Friendly wine tasting, nice decor. We enjoyed a sun drenched window table on a cold winter day. Interesting varieties and we enjoyed learning about sustainable wine making. Wonderful view, and we also enjoyed a walk on the property. Our dog was also welcome. I liked the sparkling Sauv Blanc, the Zinfandel and the rose Primitivo.

Overall wines where pretty decent, some big reds for the Orange region. However extremely disappointed with the service and attitude from the owner.
We booked for 7 and asked if we could have a picnic whilst tasting, lady on the phone was very nice and accommodating and said no worries at all.
During the day, 1 of our guests fell ill and could not taste. After pre paying we called up asking if we could get a refund for that person or a credit to a purchase, and the lady was very nice and said that is fine.

When we arrived we said we would probably purchase a few bottles, so we can take that refund off our purchases, and the lady said no problem.

After our tastings we went down to purchase a few bottles, then the owner said no to the refund of any sort, and said that we had brought our own picnic and had a good time, so no to any refunds. Which was quite disappointing to hear after asking about it twice, once on the phone and once in person. We understand that they have a business to run, and would off understood the no refund, however being told twice that the refund was possible and the way the owner addressed us, came off rude and quite disappointing. Our group has been doing wine tours at least twice a year for the past 6 years to various regions around Australia, and we have never come across that experience before. Do not know what we did to deserve that treatment, but it left a sour taste to the end of our trip to Orange.

Plenty of other wineries in the area with better wines, with more professional and accommodating ownership.

We spent an hour on the deck at Cargo Road, sitting in the shade of many umbrellas, eating cheese and charcuterie, and sampling a range of wines. We came with a few of their whites: sparkling Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling. Was this the perfect day? Close to it.

Cargo Road was close to our favourite winery visited on our most recent trip to Orange, even though some of their strongest wines like Riesling and Merlot are not generally our preferred varieties. Putting that aside, the overall experience here is excellent. The winery has a genuine, 'lived-in' authenticity and the views over the vines from the tasting deck are a delight. Great for setting a relaxed, amiable tone. Mine host was friendly and very knowledgeable about not only wine but also issues of sustainability, in the wine industry and more broadly. Their wines are not cheap but are also far from the most expensive we came across while in Orange. Given the small size of the winery and the 'hand-crafted' nature of the product, they are actually quite reasonably priced. Will happily return when next in Orange.

An outstanding winery with a diverse and delicious selection. Connor’s knowledge of the wine and history of the vineyard is second to none and the view is fantastic.

I had booked Cargo Road Winery as I was taken there a dew months ago, I was taken there & enjoyed my time there.
My friends where surprised with the cellar from outside but inside, they fell in love with Cargo Road as to how it was set up. I had booked a table & even surprised my friends with a special plate of nibbles to have whilst tasting the wines. They where surprised with their wines & we all even had a great enjoyable time there. We all brought some wine & this time I even brought a fig paste that is made at the cellar, whilst my friends even brought duck eggs with their wines.
A great time had by all, including the lovely dog walking around us getting pats & a very polite young gentleman with manners who knows his wines.

Was a really crappy day and would have been much better with better weather, however, thank you Conner for the experience. I am now at home tasting the shiraz and, WOW have just signed up for a membership. The sparkling sauvignon blanch was very good but need to get me some more of that Shiraz... also very partial to organic wines.
