They provided a short history tour of Orange which included a visit to a local aboriginal centre showing plants used in bush tucker(really interesting) and a light meal in a local restaurant using all local produce. The tour guide Sharon was most informative and very helpful in her suggestions.
This company has many more types of guided tours but we’re not available during our visit. Some of them are seasonal. We also wanted to organise a private tour and will consider this next time.
All in all was very happy with this tour and can highly recommend them to anybody visiting Orange.

Thanks for your lovely review Anni. I am so pleased you enjoyed the tour and the bush tucker experience. We'd love to welcome you back to enjoy more of our wonderful tours. April is a great time to visit for seasonal produce and fabulous Autumn colours. Cheers, Nicole

We wanted to spend a few days in beautiful Orange with good friends and booked tours with Nicole of Country Food Trails, based in Orange. We cannot recommend them highly enough – we had a great weekend and the tours were first rate. The Indigenous Cultural tour was amazing, hosted by a senior First Nation man, Gerald, who led us through the indigenous history and the local foodstuffs. We then visited the memorial and gravesite of a local indigenous man who guided the original white explorers into what was then unknown (to the English) territory. We had driven past the sign and turn off many times over the years but had never understood, or taken the trouble to find out, the significance of this historic sacred site. We were very taken by this period of history and its significance to our First Nation Australians. A visit then to another significant park nearby was fantastic and very restful, Gerald cooking a very good lunch with some local ingredients – he is a great cook. Every Australian should do this tour. The first day ended with a visit to a local winery where the grapes were laid out near Mt. Canobolas and looking gorgeous in the afternoon sun. Of course, it would have seemed impolite not to help taste some produce.
The following day we took the historic walk around Orange led by Sharon who pointed out the history of the city, the beautiful old houses and Federation buildings - the gardens were stunning, the parks restful and beautifully designed. Well done Country Food Trails. They were also able to help suggest accommodation alternatives and helped with transfers from our hotel. If you are unable to travel overseas at present – explore our local regional areas and Orange was amazing.

Our half day tour in October with Country Food Trails was a breath of fresh air. Having visited several wine regions - always booking on to a tour, it was a more interesting afternoon with a small friendly group, and some local history on top of the winery info.
Nicole was a great host and guide with a wide knowledge of Orange, and a special talent for sharing that conversationally with the group - not just a reeled off script between winery stops.
She clearly has great relationships with some less frequented cellar doors, all with exceptional wines and a little more time for us.
Having the tasting fees and a charcuterie plate included in the cost was a bonus.

We did the 'tasting trail' as part of the 2022 Orange Food and Wine Festival. At $115 per person, we expected that 'tasting' would be a substantial part of the tour. What we got was two hours of wandering around Orange town centre with a rambling and unfocused commentary. It was grossly overpriced, too long, and not very interesting.
Important aspects of the region's history were glossed over (the gold rush, for example), but we heard about how the traffic in Orange is worse since the bypass was built. We saw the inside of a shopping centre (because we don't see those anywhere else). The only tasting involved was a piece of damper and a biscuit with some jam at the end of the tour, as part of the Indigenous bush food experience. That part of the tour was OK and the damper, biscuit and jam were very good, but still not worth $115. For comparison, the following day we enjoyed an exceptional 4 course gourmet meal as another Festival event run by a different organisation, for $130 per person. The contrast was stark. We hope that other tours run by this organisation are better and better value.

As the owner of this tour business and the guide for the day, I was dissapointed to read that our tour did not meet your expectations. I did not pick up on the fact that you found the tour too long or not interesting.
To date, we have received only positive feedback about this tour but we will take your comments into consideration.

The lovely Nicole went above and beyond in her communication tailoring a perfect half day itinerary suited to our tastes. On the day we were looked after by Sharon who was a lovely driver and guide. She was very knowledable on the local area, great to chat to and went out of her way to provide some great local tips and advice! Really enjoyed the variety of the x3 cellar doors we visited and the food and wine pairing at Ross Hill Vineyard was a stand out! Thank you for a lovely half day out and showing us around your beautiful back yard. We look forward to the next trip and highly recommend booking a tour with Country Food Trails!

Where do we begin with Nicole from Country Food Trails! From the start we had a connection in discussing the varying sites to hit in the foodie heaven that is Orange. We wanted to touch on the best for our little honeymoon, seeing as Covid-19 ruined out big plans. Nicole was flexible and changed her itinerary regularly based on customer feedback from being on the ground and we truly felt like we covered everything in the short time we had! When we met Nicole, she was as expected - friendly and bubbly and knowledgeable and prepared for everything in her comfy van with water, tissues and umbrellas etc! One thing that made her stand out to me was that she wanted to make sure you captured your memories and never minded taking your photo, in fact encouraging pics at some nice spots to get around Orange and its beautiful Autumn colours, which meant a lot to us to have memories that were not just selfies of our honeymoon. The whole day tour combining 2 in 1 with Nicole was a nice balance in learning about the town but being left at a winery or shop to do your own thing and we never felt rushed. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in with Nicole and all our stops - Indigenous Cultural Adventures, Tamburlaine Organic Wines, Milthorpe Providore, De Salis Wines, Angullong Wines, Thornbrook Orchard and just lovely Orange parks and cannot recommend Country Food Trails enough! We look forward to next time and exploring and tasting even more!!

Given the changing Covid situation with guests from Victoria, Nicole worked extremely hard to ensure that our tour went ahead.
Sharon was our guide for the day and she ensured everything ran like clockwork and all our friend commented that they had never had such a pleasurable wine tasting tour.
Would thoroughly recommend.

We recently did a dog-friendly winery tour with Nicole and had a blast! While we visited Brangayne, Printhie, and Dindima wineries, Nicole provided interesting and relevant stories about Orange and the surrounding areas. She was super friendly, knowledgeable, and very a big fan of dogs. I would definitely recommend reaching out to Nicole if you're interested in a food and/or wine tour around Orange, whether it's with a furry friend or not.

Nicole is a local with a background in tourism and a passion for her home town. We combined the city walk with the visit to Millthorpe making a full day of it. We got full and prompt responses to our initial -and follow up- emails. Nicole greeted us warmly as she picked us up from our hotel. The morning was shared with two other couples but we had her all to ourselves for the afternoon. She knows her stuff, and she loves her region and she couldn’ have been a more helpful guide to food, wine, culture or history.

Nicole’s tours were recommended to us by a friend, and what a gem Nicole is.
I wanted to organise a special day for my husband’s birthday, and Nicole went above and beyond! Firstly we did her morning Tasting Tour, which was thoroughly enjoyable- Gerald was a gem, and his indigenous insights and tastings were great; then there was history, wine and more delicious food with a platter for lunch.
After lunch, Nicole organised visits to an olive grove, two wineries (more food!) and an orchard to buy fresh fruit.
Nicole even had a birthday card for my husband, and a lemon meringue tart for afternoon tea (his favourite!) But we were so full from all the delicious food and wine that we couldn’t eat them until that night.
We loved both Orange and Nicole’s tours. Being a local but also an international tour guide, Nicole just organised everything perfectly, and she had a great relationship with all the local business owners we met.
We will be back, and hope to do another tour with the lovely Nicole.
