Found The Old Dubbo Jail very interesting as to the way prisoners were treated way back when to how they are treated today. Very easily accessible for wheelchairs. Very educational.

A great insight in Gaol life in the 1800’s Brilliantly restored, very informative and very frightening. The solitary cell perhaps the scariest. The gallows were very disturbing.More

Operating as an official gaol from 1859 to 1966 and officially re-opened as a tourist attraction in 1974, this gaol has a chequered history, preserved and displayed in excellent condition. Drag the whole family along for a walk through history.

We took the self-guided tour, it was very informative and the voice-overs were great. The mannequins were life-like too. Experiencing what solitary confinement was quite enlightening, complete darkness for days at a time would have been terrible for those punished in that way. The exhibits...More

Kids loved the Gaol. It is so well preserved and with the voice overs and models it was educational and informative of life back then.

They have done a great job with this gaol, and how fortunate that someone had the foresight to save this from destruction. It was well laid out - it would have been nice to have some interactive computers so that you could research previous inmates...More
