Oh thank you.... what a lovely thing to say. Our private tours are popular with families and my hope is the children, especially took away memories of a lovely day out that they will recall in years to come. I am so pleased you all enjoyed yourselves. Thank you for choosing Detour Adventures. Take care, Ian Detour Adventures

What a great morning this was. Ian was so knowledgeable and was so generous with his time explaining the dos and don’ts. It was so peaceful walking through the pines and finding plenty of saffron caps and slippery jacks. Followed up with a cook up of our foraging. Highly recommend. As an Oberon local, so glad we did this.

Hi Nicole, Thanks for taking the time to do a great review and I'm so pleased we shared some skills, locations and knowledge. You'll now have all you need to forage happily and safely yourself and with friends, especially s you live so close. And of course, we'll be here if you need some remote, quiet locations. All the best and thanks again for booking a tour with us. Ian Detour Adventures

The two hour trip to forage for mushrooms was absolutely worth it!

Ian was such a lovely host and guided us through the dos and don'ts of mushroom foraging.

Best to wear thick clothing & boots as it can get quite chilly and the terrain can get quite rugged.

Would definitely recommend this trip for people who are looking for a nice relaxing day out in the forest.

Thanks for your lovely review and kind words. So glad everyone enjoyed themselves and enjoyed the surprise birthday cake too! Who would have thought that a vegan birthday cake could taste so good. That was a lovely spot we visited and I like to take our Guests deep in the bush like this where it is peaceful and quiet so we can all soak up the wonderful bush atmosphere. All the best, Ian Detour Adventures

Our private four wheel driving tag-a-long tour was an excellent day out!
Ian, the owner and operator of detour adventures was an excellent tour guide.
He led us through Sunny Corner State Forest in Bathurst and helped us tackle hill ascents and descents, creek crossings and rocky terrain.
As new owners of a 4WD he provided very good tips, advice and most of all explanations for safe 4WDing. He is an excellent communicator and makes you feel heard and never silly for asking any questions.
We also had a great rest where we enjoyed a morning tea packed by Ian, chatted and asked 4WDing questions. The forest itself is a beautiful pine forest and we spotted many kangaroos! Ian also has a big focus on not leaving a big environmental footprint which was important to me and great to see.
An experience I would recommend for any keen four wheel drivers especially if starting out.

Hi guys, thanks for the great review, really appreciate it. So glad you enjoyed yourselves and leaned more about 4WDing. What a great spot we enjoyed and so close to Bathurst. Lots of fun. The mountainous terrain around these parts is wonderful, with peaks reaching higher than the Blue Mountains so there is lots to enjoy. Take care in the bush and I hope it's a trip you'll relive from time to time with fond memories. Thanks again for choosing Detour Adventures. Ian

Ian is a fantastic tour guide.
Professional, informative, accomodating and overall great guy!
He taught my partner and I some valuable lessons 4wding in his one on one tag-a-long tour.
His landcruiser is also a VERY well equipped 4wd. Ian is very professional as he arrived at the start of the tour with an immaculate and extremely clean machine. He ensures a thorough clean after every trip. This gave us confidence in his operation and that we would be safe.

Hi Maria, Thank your for your kind words. It was great to have you and Patrycja on the mushroom foraging tour this week. The weather was good, the mushrooms were all there to be collected and the morning went well. Everyone took home a great forage. The forest we go to is a lovely spot, so secluded, and private. I'm glad you both enjoyed yourselves. Thanks for coming along and we look forward to next year. All the best for now. Ian Detour Adventures Bathurst Tours Bathurst Explorer Bus

Had a lovely day out! Highly recommended as an introduction to mushroom foraging.

Our tour group was full which meant it was a very cosy fit into the 4wd, however, that didn't matter too much as it was a short drive.

We learnt how to distinguish Saffron milk caps and Slippery jack from the rest of the mushrooms and how to prevent cross contamination when inspecting mushrooms.

There are a couple of trickster mushrooms that look edible but aren't. Cam our guide was always there to help us with identification and also keeping track of where we all were so we don't get lost in the forest.

Tips:
- BYO basket/box but keep it small-mid size so that everyone has space in the 4wd
- BYO knife to cut the mushrooms, you'll be fine without it but it makes it easier to pick the mushrooms
- Gloves are optional - just don't touch the mushroom before you identify it or wash your hands if you touch a questionable one
- Season is only in April
- The ground is scattered with twigs, branches and logs so becareful where you step. Also, watch out for the blackberry plants, they're thorny so wear pants and good shoes. Try to step on them than over.

Overall, had fun and learnt heaps!

Thank you for your wonderful review and kind words about our Guide Cam. I'm pleased you enjoyed yourself on our mushroom foraging tour and our hope is to always educate our Guests so you can take away a little knowledge on foraging safety for next time. As we say, foraging addictive but so is the peacefulness of the forests we visit. The stillness, the smells, the wind in the pine trees and the solitude. Good for the soul. Thank your for coming along and we hope you enjoyed your mushrooms. Best regards, Ian Detour Adventures Bathurst Tours .

I highly recommend booking the Mushroom Foraging Tour with Detour Adventures! It is suitable for all ages. Ian is a fantastic tour guide - friendly, informative and attentive. He was very generous with his time and knowledge. We left with two boxes full of Saffron Milk Caps (and a few Slippery Jacks) and a huge smile on our faces. Thank you Ian for your hospitality, we had a wonderful time on this tour. The mushrooms are delicious!

Such wonderful comments - thank you so much. To leave with a big smile is the best compliment and I'm pleased you enjoyed a great day out foraging with me. Foraging for mushrooms is such a great experience. Peaceful and good for the soul. Not always do we find wonderful quantities of mushrooms due to weather, the fragile nature of the little mushrooms and the environment but your tour was a delight and everyone will have eaten well that night. There is something special about finding, preparing, cooking and eating your own foraged mushrooms. I'm so pleased you enjoyed the day and thank you for taking the time to write a wonderful review. Hope to see you again in 2022. Thanks Ian Detour Adventures Bathurst Tours Bathurst Explorer Bus
