With staff dressed to suit the occasion and a full English dinner to delight our taste buds, inviting musical background and a house full of historic artefacts this was a night to be remembered and hopefully revisited again in years to come. The building, its history and faithfully preserved collection is worth a visit any time. This was our second... More

We went to a Jazz Night which are held every 2nd Friday of the month. Sit in this gorgeous old building, enjoy wine and nibbles and some very good jazz musoes. A really enjoyable evening

We were to take 80 people with there old cars to this venue and had morning tea, self guided tour of the house and lunch. This a credit to Christopher and his family the work that has been done and the presentation is excellent. I encourage everyone that goes to Bathurst to go out and have a look

This Mansion built in the 1800's, owned by the Morgan Family is steeped in history. Our host Chris Morgan not only gave us complete run of their home to explore but he gave us a wonderful talk on the history of the area and their home. The house is full of memorabilia both historical and personal. Every Australian should visit... More

Visited the Abercrombie House while in Bathurst looked really grand driving up the driveway. Heaps of family history inside, $15 entry fee goes towards the upkeep which I feel is lacking needs a good dust, tidy up inside and the gardens could certainly look better. Have visited better and paid less.

We went on a tour of Abercrombie House with Ian Redpath of Bathurst Tours. Ian is so knowledgeable. He took us into nearly every room in the house as well as did a tour of the stables etc. Ian knew just about everything there is to know about the history of this beautiful property. There are a lot of steps... More

The exterior of this old building is amazing, unusual and well renovated. The garden and views are wonderful. I can imagine it costs lots of money to keep it going. The interior is like a rabbit warren with creaking floors, worn carpet and a myriad of staircases. The mismatch of furniture and ornaments keeps it interesting and I can't imagine how... More

The building itself is quite spectacular with a rich history. However, the building and the grounds have not really been maintained very well. There were a lot of cobwebs, dust and the garden is in a bit of a state, not really worth the $15 per person admission.

Reasonably large historic houses are hugely expensive to maintain and the family whose home it is are to be greatly admired for pulling this one back from almost certain ruin and dereliction. I'm sure they will be the first to admit they still have a long way to go but this is still a little gem of a property. It... More
