    Remarkable.
This imposing white memorial is located on a hill top just to the west of the Albury CBD. There is a path to reach the top or there is parking for those who like to drive. There are various memorial plaques to all branches of the Australian military and every conflict they have served in. A stunning, fitting memorial to those who have served their country.

    Impressive Monument of Remembrance
An impressive monument of remembrance, reflection and peace. I was surprised by its sheer size - its height; its brilliant white paint, and the immaculate gardens that surround it. This monument, built in 1936, has an imposing presence. It is situated on top of a hill - overlooking the hometown of the young men who sacrificed their lives in war - and whose names appear on its numerous plaques. With the exception of the Australuan War Memorial and the Shrine of Remembrance, I have never seen a more 'beautiful' monument in Australia.

    "Monument Beautifully Presented"
Monument Hill in Albury has a 1.1km loop trail which takes about 23 minutes (steep in some places) or you can drive to the top and park. The monument area displays World War 1 and 11 memorials and features fantastic views over Albury and the walking track. There are lots of plaques with information to read. The monument is beautifully designed and presented with the area looked after immaculately. (toilets onsite) Take a walk or drive and enjoy this area.

I have been to Albury countless times over many decades but finally decided to visit the War Memorial. What a surprise. It is an amazing tribute to those who have been involved in the many Australian conflicts. The plaques are informative and detailed. Only one nitpicky down side was a misplaced apostrophe used as a plural in one of the plaques. A very tiny error in an otherwise very impressive display. I doubt other regional cities could come close to matching it.

An enjoyable walk with the added bonus on the return of plenty of seating in the well maintained Albury Botanic Gardens.

I especially liked how the monument is in line with the similarly whitewashed footbridge built about a decade ago over the Sydney - Melbourne rail line and noisy Hume Freeway.

Well maintained and obviously loved. Great to visit even in the soft rain we experience the day we went there.
Great views at night from the park to the town, and vice versa.
