About
The Ultimate Hands-On Experience. Set on 25 acres of open natural bushland, Oakvale Wildlife Park is 100% Australian family-owned and operated. At the park, you will find an endless menagerie of Australian natives, domestic farm and exotic animals such as koalas, kangaroos, Tasmanian devils, goats, sheep, rabbits, alligators and ostriches. Plus many, many more. Established in November 1979 by Jeff and Elaine Sansom and later passed down to their son Kent Sansom in 1995. Oakvale Wildlife Park has remained a family-owned and operated business for more than 42 years. Since 1979 the farm has undergone countless changes. However, one thing that remains the same is our commitment to providing an opportunity for our customers to learn about our native wildlife and how we can protect it. We strive to provide a fun, safe, educational, accessible and value-for-money experience for the whole family.

We had a lovely day at this zoo. It was so nice to be able to be up close to some of the animals, especially the Roos and a small goat that followed everyone about.
When you pay your entry fee they offer a small bag of food for a nominal fee. Of course the animals are wise to this so make their way to you upon entry. Though heed the signs for animals on special first you should not feed.
We didn’t feel unsafe with this experience at all. In fact it made it very special, as they were so gentle when feeding.
If you have the time it’s worth attending the koala keeper presentation, where you can get a lot of information on koalas.
The overall impression was all the keepers love the animals and the animals all seemed well cared for.

Had a great day out with good friends. Lots to see and loved getting to interact with the animals (e.g. milking a cow, feeding goats). Additionally, the private animal encounters are more personal but also great fun.

All staff we interacted with were extremely friendly, welcoming and informative.

Would go again.

Lovely visit (despite the heat). All animals looked well cared for and it is obvious the keepers love them all to bits.

Great to get up close to the animals and a truly great day. Lovely to see conservation, especially with the Koalas in action and being actively promoted.

Well worth a visit!

Super impressed with wildlife park. We took 1 and 3 year olds who had the best day ever. Any young children are well suited here. Must buy a bag of feed or two on entry ($2 each). We lasted about 3 hours but would have been longer if kids were a bit older. We'll be back.

This is probably my fav attraction at port Stephens as a solo traveller! I love animals and am amazed how up close we could get with them in this spacious park. I enjoyed myself with a field of kangaroos where some of them were not shy in exploring my bracelet, hair and clothings at all! The animals feeding were great fun too, feeding those cute goats with a milk bottle, only to have 10 of them fighting for that bottle all over you:) I had a great time at the park and would recommend it to everyone- adult or kid. If you love animals, this is the best park to visit.

It's a cute park. There were plenty of little sheep's roaming around, and my little one loved feeding them. They seemed quite comfortable coming closer to us. There were plenty of wallabies and kangaroos around to feed, touch, and take some amazing photos. The park is designed easy to access and walk around. The animal feeding show was also really nice and I recommend you visit it. It was amazing feeding milk to little sheep.

Spent about 2 to 3 hours with the kids . The zoo is not huge but has a good variety of animals. Goats, Kangaroos, ducks do roam around part of the park which you can pat and feed with their $2 bags.

The best part is feeding farm animals milk bottles and tractor ride. Not all the shows were available as we went on a weekday.

We had a great time with limited numbers at the zoo due to COVID19. The zoo is very easy to walk around and provides close access to the animals.

We were lucky to be able to participate in a Meerkat Encounter where we were able to feed and interact with these curious little guys.

We also went on the bird encounter which was very informative and we were treated to an informative meet and greet of Macaw's, Eclectus Parrots, Black Cockatoos, Gallahs, Sulphur Crested Cockatoos and Tawny Frogmouths.

Fun thing that happened, my husbands hat blew off while we were feeding the camels. It was out of reach and we were worried how to get it back. One of the camels picked it up and moved it closer so we could reach it!

Our animals are loving having guests back in the park after our 2 month closure and I am sure they will do anything to keep our guests entertained and spend time with them (like brining the hat back lol) We look forward to welcoming you again back to the park in the future. Spent just under 3 hours and was really delighted to earn lots about koalas as I was the only person on that experience. KYAH was so knowledgeable and didn’t laugh at any of my questions. I’m only sorry I was too old for the Splash Bay. Everyone was so polite and helpful. We went on a Monday so the place was really quiet.

I’m visiting my family from England and we decided to visit the wildlife park. What a great place to visit, the animals are well cared for and it’s really nice that you can interact with a variety of these animals. There are shows giving you information on Koalas which was most interesting. There is a water play area which has been very well thought out, my grandchildren loved it. I have bought my family an annual pass so they can make more visits throughout the year. I can highly recommend.
