About
Murrook Cultural Centre is situated on Nelson Bay Road Williamtown NSW. It's purpose is to gather, sustain, protect and teach Aboriginal Culture to all people with an emphasis on Worimi culture being the land and people of this area. We have Aboriginal people teach various groups, from schools (pre, primary, secondary and uni/tafe), to community, business & government groups and international visitors. Most importantly, Murrook is used by our Aboriginal community as a gathering place. Aboriginal staff teach many facets of our culture, from boomerangs, weapons and tools, didgeridoo, communication like art and dance, bush food medicine, cooking, craft (basketing weaving, beading), artefacts and much more. We at Murrook seek to deliver a sound, authentic and relevant cultural experience to our visitors helping them to see Australia through the eyes of an Aboriginal.

    The gem of Williamstown.
The Murrook Cultural Centre is an absolutely gem where you can engage with Aboriginal culture in a number of ways. I love the gallery, weaving workshops are great, artefact talk was interesting and the staff are highly knowledgeable. On my last visit we went on a quad bike tour of the sand dunes, which was awesome. The food at the cafe is great too.

    The best!!!
This is such a special safe space for everyone. Especially for Aboriginal people and young Aboriginal kids who don’t have access to their local culture. They are able to feel connected and proud. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. We loved the sand dune cultural tour for 1.5 hours we done with Pauline, she gave us fantastic insight and was happy to answer any question we had. We have so much gratitude for our day out.

A Cultural experiences for every visitor to the region
This incredible enterprise of the Worimi people shares and showcases Indigenous culture for the region like nowhere else. A stunning building, brimming with members of the community keen to invite visitors in and demonstrate accessible aspects of local Culture. Stories and exhibit trace back to invasion and before and are supported with award winning digital interactive displays about land and waterways. Well worth including and a great cafe to refuel at as well.

Murrook offers the most amazing Cultural experience in Australia. Connecting to Country and Truth telling by local community and Elders will change your worldview for the better. Engage and walk with the local Worimi Peoples as they share their stories and Dreaming.

Students walked the sand dunes and explored the rich culture and history of the Worimi people. Our guide shared his knowledge with great passion in teaching us about the dunes, the local history and the four pillars of Aboriginal identity. Digging for fresh water and inspecting spear tips sourced from Whibayganba (Nobbys Head) were a highlight.

I attended a conference, the staff are amazing and welcoming , the grounds are tranquil giving the mind a break during the conference, the food tasty, fresh , variety and plentiful. I attends many different skills focused courses throughout the year and this venue is the best I had been at in many years , perfect for anyone. I am considering having a charity fundraiser at this venue. I highly recommend . Thank you to all the staff , thanking for sharing your country/land with me .
