Visit the Te Anau Glowworm Caves - an underground network of limestone caves lit by hundreds of glowworms. In the darkness they produce a glittering display. Carved out by the force of the river, the underground world is surprisingly beautiful with whirlpools and roaring waterfalls. Begin with a scenic cruise across Lake Te Anau and then our nature guides will take you in groups through the caves and then in a small boat into the grotto. Departs Te Anau.

The cave system is pretty amazing in itself without the glowworms. I was excited to see this until I understood that the glowworms hang sticky silks from the rocks to catch food. Was paranoid about it falling on my face while in the cave but...More

The guides are so knowledgeable and funny which made for an excellent tour. The caves were so beautiful and glow worms were fascinating.

We booked for the last trip of the night. We were lucky in that there were only about 20 of us on the boat. So that meant that when we got into the caves we only had a partially full boat. I don't like heights...More

We were very excited to see the glowworm caves, but we were a little disappointed in how few glowworms there were (it could've been a bad time?). It was still a cool experience, and I'm glad we went (a good way to spend an evening),...More

This was a great little trip. A beautiful boat trip on the lake first to get there - worth doing the day time trip just for this. The caves themselves are amazing, and going into the grotto where the glowworms are is surreal, definitely something...More

I thought the cave was really interesting. The boat ride over was nice and relaxing. Take some bug spray over. There were a lot of sand flies outside around the cave on the shore.More

It was a well organised trip, the boat journey across the lake was comfortable, the staff were friendly, polite and enthusiastic about the caves and the history behind them. It's a little on the expensive side, but, its a unique experience so you are paying...More

I really enjoyed visiting the glow worm cave. The large boat takes you across the fresh water lake, said to be one of the largest fresh water lakes in the Southern Hemisphere. Once there the well informed guides take you in small groups into the...More

Aloha, I agree with the other answers. I can't explain why some people like something and the same amount of people don't like it similar to the elections recently in America.

There is no particularly charges for sitting near the guide. I went at 4pm and the tour is pretty good. I got a 6 yr old and he enjoy it. The tunnel is narrow and some section is pretty Low. People walk in a single line and... More
