Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

There are other shops - such as Simply New Zealand which is on the lakefront - but this is by far the largest. Has a great selection of products, including many that I didn't see in similar shops throughout NZ. Lovely range of possum & merino wool items from the common hats and scarfs to more unusual hot water bottle covers.
Also have a good cafe area with a nice range of products, if a little pricier than other outlets (you could equally just pop to the 4 Square supermarket nearby and get a delicious hot pie!)

The stop over in Te Anau on the way to Doubtful and Milford Sounds is perfect for a rest and a meal. The southern hospitality is abundant and there are a variety of coffee shops and places where you can get a good meal.

We passed through here a few times with tours and it was convenient with everything we needed. We had food from the cafe end which was okay. Also had a meal provided lunch a la carte which was better.

We ended up here several times as a break spot during tours to Milford & Doubtful Sound and I really liked it! They have a nice souvenir/gift/retail shop with great prices, free wifi, a nice cafeteria with quick eats at reasonable prices, lots of toilets, and friendly staff. It's a great place to refuel in Te Anau!
