We did not want to drive this ourselves in one day and were so glad we booked this trip. It does fill up so you have to be quick. It is a smaller bus and we met everyone on board. We were also able to make stops where the large tour buses could not stop. The trip was breathtaking. The... More

Rob was a super guide, full of knowledge and humor, and he prepared an excellent barbecue lunch for us along the way. We had plenty of stops to stretch and take photos and even watched a great movie on the way back. All of this made the long ride to Milford Sound really enjoyable. I highly recommend signing up for... More

If you are staying in Queenstown getting to the Milford Sound is about a 4 hour road trip. That being said, I appreciate the liveliness of our guide Nigel throughout the whole ride. He discussed the history of Queenstown and of the Milford Sound and quizzed us throughout the whole journey, which made the whole experience fun. BBQ was tasty... More

This small bus is the ideal way to see Milford Sound from Queenstown. The driver picked us up exactly on time, gave great commentary about each area, stopped at beautiful places only a small bus could get into, showed great patience with the 14 or so tourists on board, stopped at a campground along the river and cooked and served... If you're staying in Queenstown and want to see Milford Sound, there's no better way than the BBQ bus! A fun driver (in our case, Rob), lots of interesting stops en route, delicious BBQ lunch, and a gorgeous boat ride around the sound. Everything was very efficient and yet we never felt rushed. It was also nice to be on... More

I did the bbq bus tour with the owner Marty. I was a wee bit apprehensive about the length of the bus journey but needn't have worried, we had loads of stops for photos, bathroom breaks, lunch and my favourite stop in te anau where I had the best steak pie I've ever had (and I'm a Scot). Marty had... More

Outstanding day trip...about 14 hours in total leaving from Queenstown. Locals refer to area as the 8th wonder of the world...hard to argue to the contrary...magnificent scenery that concluded with a hour long boat excursion. Guide/Owner provided a BBQ lunch as a break along the way.. Name of tour we used is listed as title of review.

We did a day trip to Milford Sounds on the BBQ bus with a fantastic driver named Rob. We made lots of stops for photos, which was fantastic as nothing worse than just seeing the sights out the window. We felt very safe with Robs driving considering the twists and turns in the mountain road. Nice BBQ lunch prepared by... More

Nigel was our guide and he did a great job at keeping us entertained and educated. The day as a whole was fantastic, we came away with better insights into flora, fauna, and general area history. Although it was a long day, Nigel kept us well informed about when we would stop for sights/food/restroom breaks. Our day happened to be... More

My wife had a super day on our trip to Milford Sound on the BBQ bus. Organisation was first class and we were picked up right on time. Our group varied in numbers throughout the day but was never larger than 13. Undoubtedly a major factor in the success of the day was our driver/guide Nigel. He was informative, funny... More
