Excellent buffet, with a brief but sufficient wine list. Great selection of meats, fish, and deserts to die for.

We had asked about this cruise as I really wanted to go on the Earnslaw but it was out of service for annual maintenance. We decided to go ahead and book the dinner anyway as they had another launch in service. The weather was wet...More

We really enjoyed this this fun activity. We purchased the BBQ Lunch option and received a 10% discount by using the "Go Have Fun" card provided by our car rental agency - GO Rentals. The company that runs this exertion also does the Glow Worms...More

We enjoyed the boat ride across the lake and were surprised by the opulence of the buffet when we arrived. We ate a number of delicious barbecued meats and seafood paired with fine New Zealand wine. Afterwards, we were treated to a sheep dog round...More

This was one of our highlights of our honeymoon and that is the truth! The boat ride over to the farm was awesome, you get on the boat, grab a wine and then get to watch the workers as they start the amazingly old steam...More

Travel on Late Wakatipu to Walter Peak from Queenstown is on the ss Earnslaw, the last coal-fired steamship in the Southern Hemisphere. The ship is an attraction in itself as all the functioning machinery can be seen at close hand. There's a bar and cafe...More

We enjoyed the boat trip on the steamer from Queenstown to the farm. Our group were lucky enough to get outdoor seating for the buffet lunch which overlooked the lake. Food was decent enough although buffet was slow to be replaced. Drink prices were particularly...More

My family and I ( 4 adults ) will be visiting Queenstown for 5 days end of April / beginning of May 2018. Should we prebook TSS Earnslaw and Walter Peak BBQ lunch here in Australia or do it when we get to Queenstown ? Would be nice to do it on a sunny day.

Hi Rex, we didnt pre book this but we did this tour in January and it might be in higher demand in April/May. It is a popular tour so I would suggest contacting them in advance and getting their recommendation. Have fun!

Planning to do the evening BBQ at Colonel's Homestead Restaurant and wanted to know if the farm demo mentioned was the sheep dog and sheep shearing demo that is offered to visitors during the day tours.

Yes - and it's actually better during the day. The dog portion of the program was very interesting and it was hard to see at night.

Hi there, for TSS Earnslaw cruises, we recommend arriving at least 20 minutes prior to tour departure time (unless you're doing guided cycling which is 30 mins). Allow extra time to find a park if travelling by car.
