We called them about an hour before and made a booking, asking what their current special was and they offered us two adults for $15 each. I think it was totally worth the money. The staff were friendly and helpful. You are provided with jackets and gloves and given a bit of a safety briefing before you were taken through. We went at 6pm, so our group was mostly families and older couples which was great.
We had mocktails, which are just two different types of fruit juice, but that's ok, the experience is drinking them out of the ice cups!
We took heaps of photos and chatted to the staff about the ice sculptures and the practicalities of such a unique bar. Staff seemed happy in their work and happy to chat.
We were some of the last people in our session still in the bar after about 40 minutes. A cool and unique experience, I would say its a must do in Queenstown.

This ice bar looked really great on the paper - nice ice sculptures, experience low temperature most people from NZ/AU never do a have some drinks to warm u up! Well, the space ended up being overcrowded and therefore less enjoyable. We never got to try hockey in the corner and had to wait for right opportunity to take some pictures without other people involved. The queue at the bar was insane and when I finally got my drink, there was almost no rum in my drink - just that juice. Given the cocktail contained 3 ingredients but only two bottles were used, I either got no rum or it was heavily watered down to save some costs.

An hour's slot in a smaller than expected room, but fun to see many ice sculptures, drink out of ice glasses and then smash them at the end, and play an ice hockey table game. We had a lot of fun in this -12 deg environment, wrapped up in warm jackets and gloves provided for us. The cocktails were great! We lasted 40mins but most people booked for the same time as us had left the bar by then.

We were all very excited about going to this ice bar but unfortunately left feeling very underwhelmed and disappointed. There are some incredibly talented people who sculpt the ice statues however, the room is tiny (not much larger than a single garage). The customer service was average at best. Being such a small space, when you are in there with 20 other people, it feels really crowded. There were about 12 kids in the group we ended up in and they didn’t enhance the experience.

Hi Fluffybluecat, thanks for taking the time out to write a review. We at Below Zero Ice Bar pride ourselves on being the largest and coldest Ice Bar in the Southern Hemisphere.
Our capacity is around 55pax but we do cap the sessions at around 25-30 people so that you can enjoy the experience of the Ice Bar. Below Zero Ice Bar is family friendly so we do allow children of all ages into the bar.
Hopefully you can visit the bar again in the near future.
Thanks again,
Laura and The Below Zero Team

From the moment we walked in for our 5pm session on 23/10 and greeted by a surly girl who seemed to question our presence the whole experience was underwhelming. There were to many people crammed into the ice room and our sympathy to the one poor guy who was challenged with serving everyone, particularly since he had never held the job before. The drinks were flavoursome but the pours were scant, obviously trying to save $$. The room itself was tacky and not the experience we were expecting. Not sure if the other Ice Bars in town are the same but we would suggest trying one of those first.

Now when I play Never Have I Ever, I won't have to disappoint when someone asks if I've drunk Jägermeister from an ice sculpture of the brand's iconic stag. Had a real cool time at a chilly temp with some delicious drinks. Nichola was fantastic, love her vibe and encouragement - she absolutely made my day! Thank you Nichola for being an outstanding bartender, photographer, and just an all round star!
Would totally recommend!

A really cool experience, literally! Great for adults and children, there is lots to see and admire. We would recommend getting the cocktail in the ice glass for the full experience. They have some of the most amazing ice sculptures we have seen.

The venue is small. The staff care little. The drinks are mostly fruit juice. This was the worst ice bar I've ever attended. All of us left within 10 mins. Sadly not worth the money. If you are tempted make sure you use the discount websites

Hi, Dave B, thank you for taking the time to write us a review. We at Below Zero Ice Bar pride ourselves on being the biggest and coldest ice bar in the southern hemisphere. As the temperature is -12 degrees and the glasses are made of ice the only soft drinks we can have are juices. All of the cocktails have a standard measurement of alcohol and are then topped with juices.
We are sorry you did not have a great experience. Would you like to email me at info@belowzeroicebar.co.nz and we could arrange a day for you to come and try out the Ice Bar again.
Many thanks, Laura - Below Zero Team

Waste of time and money. Sentiment shared throughout the time slot as most were leaving within half an hour of a full hour ticket. Diluted cocktails largely consisting of sugary fruit juices.

Hi Pat G, thank you for your review. We are sorry you didn't have a great experience in the Below Zero Ice Bar. Unfortunately with the temperature holding at -12 degrees many people cannot stay for a long period of time. We are unable to dilute the drinks too as they would freeze : ) Thanks, Laura - Below Zero Team.

Wow a very different experience a must try in queenstown.
It was -12 degree freezing cold however was fun to have a mocktail with few lovely clicks with family.
Due to extreme cold my little one didn't wish to stay inside for long so it was a quick visit still definitely a worth visit.
We even had a quick game 😀

Hi there, just wondering for my upcoming visit next month (excited!) I’ve purchased just entry as not sure if I’ll be drinking or not as I get to Queenstown the same day I’ve booked to come in haha. When purchasing drinks at the bar if I decide I want a cheeky drink or two, do you accept cash or card, or both as payment? So I can plan ahead if I need to withdraw some NZD before arriving :)
Written 26 January 2019
Hi Mel! Yeah we accept both cash and card inside and we look forward to your visit 😊 x
Written 27 January 2019
yes I agree with the above answers, we had a voucher from the entertainment book which got us in much cheaper but the price is good value for money and you can stay there as long as you want.
