Family loved it but still a construction zone
Went with the family just after the Skyline reopened in July 2023. Looks like they’re building parking near the base of the gondola, which will be great as it’s currently not easy to park nearby. The Skyline is clearly still being built so will only get better. This didn’t detract from the experience. We didn’t wait long to get onto the gondola and headed straight to the luge. It was packed, not helped by some mechanical issues, which their staff sorted out quickly. There were lots of people luging, which their staff handled really well. I found the luge staff really friendly and happy to answer questions. We LOVED it. It was cold but we had a great time. We had chosen the 6 ride option, which which was a good number of rides for a family. My main feedback is that were no signs at the first intersection on the course to show which direction was Dart and which was Arrow, so some people seeking the slower option landed on the faster course. Also, a number of people (esp. kids) got stuck on the course and there were no staff on the course to help. Other lugers had to stop and help. Skyline needs staff on the course for this. Recommended and (we thought) good value.

    A Must Do in Queenstown
This is a great way to see the best of Queenstown! The Skyline has been recently renovated to now take 10 per gondola (instead of 4) and the construction work continues. Great to take the kids if you also want to ride the luge and enjoy the jellybeans! A photographer’s dream… if you get the weather right. Rug up in the cold and enjoy a mulled wine at the cafe inside. A must do in Queenstown.

    A must do in Queenstown
A great trip up and well worth the money. We did the gondola and the luge with 3 adults, 2 teenagers and a 6 and 2 year old and they loved it. 2 year old and 6 year old tandem on the luge was great fun- just remember to brake! Very reasonably priced for food and coffees and an amazing view.

A Must visit, views, food and luges
This is an experience not to be missed from the amazingly helpful staff at the ticket office at the bottom to the waitresses and teams looking after you. We spent 5 or 6 hours here, including lunch at the all you can eat carvery, luges, walking around the view desks etc. Lots of building work when we were there, but none of that took away from the experience—brand new cable cars. Even the little crab that popped his head out of my sea food didnt put me off (just stopped eating the seafood). Spectacular views.

    Views for miles
We booked online meaning we didn't have to wait in line - which was handy. We didn't book the lunge. Instead we spent a couple of hours at the top, enjoying the view, a few drinks and a bite to eat. The gift shop is good too.

    Worth doing.
The ticket office was just a short walk from our hotel. There is a number of 'packages' on offer and these are clearly displayed on a board so that you can make your choice before purchasing tickets. We chose to go up and back on the Gondola. Smooth ride in modern gondolas with fantastic views from the top. Disembark and check out the views, have something to eat/drink if you wish, there is a souvenir shop to have a wander through and perhaps make a purchase. Certainly worth doing just for the wonderful views.

    Great but hard going
Great experience, the views are phenomenal! Gondola ride is quiet and beautiful, maybe a little too quick as you want to take it all in. Luge rides are great fun although some people really struggle navigating corners so be careful. It is really steep and lots of steps particularly as on scaffolding as it appears all areas under construction be mindful for elderly or young kids. Advice- buy ticket online, you may as well buy more luge tix than you think you need as they are not much more extra, we got there at 9:30 and then luge at 10am when it opened, avoided the crowds and out by midday!!

    Brilliant fun
The gondola ride is great; certainly one of the steeper ones I've been on. The views are spectacular. The Luge, a sort of gravity powered go-kart, is hugely enjoyable and popular. Be prepared for long lines, but it's worth it. We bought the 3 ride ticket, which I think is the minimum for a really good experience.

    Smooth ride on Gondola
We went on the gondola today. It was $52.00 per head. The ride up and down was very smooth. The top had a cafe, viewing deck and the more adventurous could get on a luge or parasail 🪂 off the cliff face. I would recommend the gondola 🚠

    Up in the air
We took a trip to the Skyline early pm. The weather was fantastic after a cloudy start in the morning. It was a great experience, the views were tremendous. However, there is a lot of building/clearance work going on all around the viewing area and the land below which is a spoiler. Had the viewing platform been bigger (it only ran for about 150 metres) it would have been an even better experience. At peak times I would imagine it gets very crowded. We then went for a drink on the bar which is glass walled so great views over the lake and mountains. The gondolas were modern and comfortable. Hop on, hop off.

Way too expensive. $80pp+ for a chair lift ride and a few runs on a very average luge. Not worth the hype. Not to mention the entire thing is currently a giant construction site. If you fancy a clamber over some wet scaffolding, a walk up a very steep temporary path and an aerial view of a logging coupe this one’s for you! My advice, save your money!

Most disappointing part of the day was watching a mum attempting to negotiate the scaffolding with a pram… don’t worry plenty of paying customers to help…. No staff in sight though. The staff we did encounter could literally not have been less interested in being at work.

How this is the #1 tourist attraction in Queenstown is completely beyond me.

Skyline Queenstown's Gondola-assisted uplift service is awesome! The team loaded my bike like pros, and the Gondola ride up gave us epic views. At the top, my bike was ready, and it was all smooth sailing. Definitely recommend it!

Undeniable Views!

$59 is expensive for a ski lift ride. When you get to top there are more tourist Money Grab opportunities. Unless you are eating, drinking , riding luge, or ½ mile uphill walk path, This is a 1/2-hour return trip.

Once on top there is:
1/2 mile hiking trail with different views of basin below
2-3 tracks to ride "luge" (NOT included in the $59 gondola ride up)
Downhill bike tracks (if you are a biker)
Buffet Restaurant ($80 Per Person)
Tourist triket shops
Place to purchase drinks
There is ton of construction on top as of May '24 which seriously detracts from the views

There is a $59 90 min boat cruise of harbor which is monies much better spent on Queenstown experience.

We rode the gondola up past construction, loud and mars the view. Then we got to the top to see any other experiences would be much money to shell out. Drank water in the cafe, paced the modest balcony to watch the ridiculous luge (worse than an amusement park ride), and finally came back down feeling like that was a waste. There are so many free, beautiful scenic viewpoints why pay for this?

The views were amazing from the viewing deck, but even better was to go towards the luge area. Even if you are not riding the luge, you can head that way and you are revealed a very nice walking trail that intermixes with the luge track and has some even better views than from the "main" viewing platform. There are picnic table here and you can see the paragliders taking off from here too.

We headed up the Gondola to Luge. Whilst the Luge was a great deal of fun, probably our favourite luge track we have done, the amount of construction was really off putting. There are multiple temporary walkways, constant machinery and it all felt a little chaotic. Luging was fun and we would certainly go again once construction has been completed. I would also say if you have anyone in your party with a fear of heights, this is probably not for them. Not only are you having to go up a gondola, but then the chairlift and then you are luging on the side of a mountain, so perhaps let them explore Queenstown while you head up.

We were a large family group and had pre-booked the buffet which was good but unfortunately we could not get an alcoholic drink until we sat down to eat as it was Easter Sunday! Nevertheless the buffet was comprehensive although we noticed that Skyline stopped replenishing it quite early on in the evening but we enjoyed ourselves and especially the magnificent view over Lake Wakatipu.

Amazing view of queenstown! it's a must do, in my opinion, when you visit Queenstown. There is also a restaurant, where you can also enjoy the view.

The gondola ride to the viewing platform was smooth and the views increased as it rose.
The view from the Skyline of Queenstown is spectacular. There is also a cafe where you can relax and enjoy the view over a cuppa.
There is a lot of major work happening at present but this did not spoil the view.

Amazing views over Queenstown on the Gondola, the luge was also fun. There was quite a line up for the luge, but it went relatively fast. Some construction was happening while we were there.
