I learned to board here and cornet peak and by day 3 I was doing the black diamonds :) surf skate so it was fast learning. As New Zealand's highest mountains, the Remarkables are a range of beauty reaching into the heavens. Only some 25km from Queenstown, it is worth visiting.

Excellent skiing from June each year, can also get up there for mountain biking in summer. Gets crowded.

It is a hairy ride up in a bus on narrow steep roads but the views are fabulous- the drivers know what they are doing and its is worth the effort. Great gliding areas and jumps for the kids too.

Lovely views and decent skiing in July but not very challenging runs. There is a nice chalet at the bottom with good food and drinks

A bit harder to get to than Coronet Peak but well worth it as not as busy as Coronet Peak. Ski/Snowboard instructors are awesome and kids love the ski club.

I stopped there and headed back.. I had gotten high enough up for the great views. There are also some spots on the way up where you can park... More

We visited The Remarkables during summer & hiked from the main ski base up to "The Highway". It was a tough walk & not for the faint-hearted but the views at the top are spectacular!
