I saw a part of the river in Arrowtown, an old gold mining town. It is now a tourist town, with the old buildings preserved, mostly as shops for tourists. The museum has information about the area. There is a park next to the river....More

Beautiful little town. Well worth renting a car for the day and taking the short drive from Queenstown. Loads of nice little cafes and places to grab a bit or drink. Highly recommended.

Arrow River is one of my favourite things to love about Arrowtown. Take a stroll up the track towards Macetown that starts at Butlers Green, below the village, and see the river from above as you wind up the gorge. It's a totally safe walk,...More

we did the exciting jet boat ride, it was such a thrill and then we had lunch at the cafe nearby. I suggest don't eat or have a full stomach before the ride otherwise you might get a bit nauseous .

Wonderful autumn views - golden trees along the riverside. Free walking map from the local museum, easy walk to two LotR filming sites. Also amusing to watch the 4WD tours 'Fording the Bruinen'.
