White Water Sledging is the best way to get up close and personal with the mighty waters of the southern lakes of New Zealand. Take on the rapids of the historic Kawarau River on our river purpose sledges, designed and built in New Zealand! They are buoyant and manoeuvrable, perfect for running rapids and spinning in whirlpools! Enjoy this pristine alpine white water adventure in one of New Zealand`s most scenic rivers. Haven’t had enough? We head back up to the top for another exhilarating 6 km run. You will end up a fully-fledged Frog with a big smile! The Roaring Meg section of the mighty Kawarau is graded 2-3. No experience is required but you must be able to swim, be reasonably fit and confident in water. Our team is comprised of seasoned professionals. Frogz has been running white water sledging trips from Queenstown and Wanaka since 1991.

This was a highlight of my trip to NZ. Such a fun experience and the guides were fantastic. Sure, the water is chilly at first, but you quickly get over it. It's worth the money. I would love to do it again. I've never heard of water sledging until I visited NZ.

This is a real fun activity and very well run. All the gear is supplied and full instruction is given by the very professional guides. On the day, we were accompanied by Rose & Dallas and they both did a great job showing us what to do and generally making it a fun experience for everyone. Having the sledge gives... More

I have to say up front that white water sledging was fantastic fun and pretty much suitable for all ages for anyone with basic swimming ability. However the actual getting into the river left much to be desired. First off, Frogz isn't (any longer?) an actual business but just an option of Serious Fun Riverbarding, the fine print does tell... We did the Roaring Meg. It was awesome. Some hard work is required in some areas but once you are through the rapids it is a nice gentle drift the rest of the way.

We opted to try the river sledging due to the fact that we aren't surfers, so the surfing option didn't appeal to us, neither did the canyoning or the speed boat river experience. What an adventure! The Roaring Meg gave us a few grade 3 rapids which definitely got the old adrenaline running. Our tour guides were competent, friendly and... More

This was the absolute best day of our 18 day vacation! It was so much fun and a great alternative to whitewater rafting- much more exciting. The staff was so incredibly friendly and you could tell they really wanted everyone to have fun. I felt very safe in their hands and anytime I would veer off a little, they would... More

So much fun!! The staff was friendly, personable, knowledgeable. There was a gal in our group that didn't seem to be able to swim very well and they pretty much hand-guided her down the river safely! The nicest part was that that didn't deter the other guide from leading the rest of us down the river at a better pace.... More

My daughter signed up in Wanaka and not enough people registered so we drove 50 drive miles to Queenstown. Worth the extra time spent getting there. We dropped her at a restaurant named Gibbston Tavern. Her guides, Adam, Dan and Yaka were excellent. They were very patient and confident as they explained the steps to experience the river safely. She... More

Very fun alternative to whitewater rafting. Unfortunately the rapids were not to impressive, but if they were rated higher or were more demanding it may deter tourists. Too bad certain river sections or alternative river options were not available. Overall i would highly recommend. Rose, Pavel, and another guide were also helpful and made the experience more enjoyable. Pavel -... More

WARNING--- the title is a tad bit misleading. When I heard the term "river boarding" I expected some sort of fascist torture technique, but it was nothing like that at all. In fact, it was a quite fun experience, in spite of the fact that it wasn't what I expected. The adventure begins at Frogz's office right in the center... More
