I had a sedate trek with my daughter earlier in the holiday with a different company and whilst she went jet boating I decided to have a more advanced ride. Ben Lomond offered the 'McConnochies track' for intermediate to advanced riders only, so I booked on that. I was driven from The Station in Queenstown which took about 20 mins... More

After camping at the Moke Lake campsite, we stumbled across this horse trek and went as a couple on the 2 hour ride through the valley. I have some experience of riding but my boyfriend had very little. Leisurely walk throughout the valley with lots of river crossings and the chance to do some trotting (bit jolty for my boyfriend... We were picked up right on time at the Station building in Queenstown, driven for about 20 minutes to the trekking location next to Moke Lake ( this lake in itself is worth the visit). Efficiently fitted out with helmets, and horses, I had Munster who was a pretty big horse. the safety briefing was good, although I had a... More

I actually did this horse trek in December 2015 and I really enjoyed it. I was picked up at the right time and even the drive out to the horse paddocks was beautiful. I ended up doing this with just the guide as no one else booked the same day as me so it was a nice ride. I did... More

We arrived at Queenstown at around 2pm so this was the only horseriding tour we could find that started at 3pm. Most of the others departed in the morning or earlier afternoon. They picked us up at The Station in town and the drive up to the stable was around 20 minutes. We could leave our bags in their office... More

Well I'd just to make a shout out to the Ben Lomond Horse trek team! Right from the start when they picked us up to when they dropped us off. The driver was knowledgable and friendly which is always a great start, she had passion and was ready to answer all questions. The guides who helped us get ready were... More

The most gentle horses: perfect for our young kids (both beginners) to ride on their own unaided. Plus the setting was spectacular and the one hour trek took us across the valley floor, through a few streams and ponds as we took in the views. Wonderful guides too - friendly, helpful and really enthusiastic.

My husband, son, and I did the short trek as all of us were brand new riders. All 3 of us had lovely, gentle horses. The staff were great too, very helpful, friendly, and patient. They gave clear instructions and I felt safe the whole ride. The scenery was unbelievable and it's an experience we'll never forget!

As a first time rider I was rather nervous but the lovely staff were very reassuring and gave good instructions prior to the trek. I opted for the 1.5 hour trek amongst the most dramatic scenery! It truly is very beautiful landscape. My horse was a beaut! And my guide very knowledgable & informative about the area & horses. Highly... More
