What an awesome time we had! It was cold but we were provided with polar jackets and gloves to keep warm.
There was a good selection of cocktails and drinks. Two drinks are also included in the price and extra drinks can be purchased once you have begun the experience. Although, I found two drinks is enough in one hour.
The ice scupltures are amazing and the lighting really enhances the experience.
As only a small number of people can gain entrance during the hour, it is easy to move around and admire each of them.
The music was great so we enjoyed a little dance :-)
It is something different to add to your itinerary in Queenstown. At $34 per person including two drinks, it is well worth a visit!

Rang up an hour before and were able to get two spots – they take people through in group so there’s no overcrowding. Awesome experience – the room is made completely ice, including sculptures and seating, even an ice horse you can sit on.
Enjoyed the drinks – cocktails were great. If you go to the i-site (information store) in town you can get a brochure that has $5 entry off pp. We got the entry and two cocktails included for $40 per person.
Abby who was leading the group & behind the bar made the experience, with her upbeat enthusiasm and dancing to the music as she poured drinks. Her energy made a great vibe! Definitely worth going to :-)

The bartender was delightful and made delicious drinks. Albeit, the room is packed when your one hour starts but people thin out quickly....those who wore shorts, didn't like standing, couldn't figure out what to do...Then we had a bit more room to dance around. The 4 people who claimed the limited seating when they arrived never moved so we made the best of it. I'd recommend for the playful at heart you do it once. Too small a room for more seating but that would get them the last star on my review.

What a fantastic time. A great experience & lots of laughs & a new experience. Well worth it for both young, old or families. Assortment of alcohol or non-alcohol drinks to enjoy. The Artic Sunrise & Polar Bear were great. Didn't want to leave, enjoyed it so much. 🙂👍🏼🍸

Our family of four had an unforgettable experience at Minus 5. The ice-carved stools, adorned with fur rugs, provided a cozy yet surreal setting. We sipped fruity cocktails from glasses made entirely of ice while our kids delighted in mocktails served in ice cups. The kids felt like VIPs, enjoying their frosty beverages in this icy wonderland. For a truly unique Queenstown adventure, Minus 5 is a must-visit – just be prepared to embrace the chill!

What a hoot ! Cute little Icy cold space, incredible sculptures, mega friendly staff. You book for an hour. Not many last that long. Great tasty cocktails & mocktails served in an ice glass , which is curiously fun to smash in to a bin when you are finished.
You are provided with mega warm coats & gloves.
Staff are really friendly, great sounds & atmosphere . Sculptures are awesome.
Must do if you have never done so before.

Great fun thing to do. Got to be done at least once. Booking is essential, crowded at first so difficult to see all the sculptures but most people only lasted 30 mins not the full hour, So Just wait a bit. Booked on line got a discount, one extra cocktail ordered at check in was only an extra $10, bargain.

As you could probably tell, Queenstown in general was crazy busy for School Holidays and we are pleasantly surprised by all the Kiwi support!
Stoked you got to experience the bar once it was a bit quieter and got to take in the beauty of all the sculptures :)

Unable to accept GrabOne vouchers due to 'Level 2 restrictions' and yet you're still allowed to pay to enter and use your voucher value against purchases instore. The script from the customer service rep felt overly rehearsed unfortunately. Our 8 year old was in tears. The whole experience was wholly unsatisfactory.

We are really sorry your experience with us at Minus 5 Ice Bar wasn’t enjoyable. We pride ourselves on our customer service and providing a really great experience for our guests, so it’s really hard for us to hear that we’ve let you down. We’ve taken this feedback very seriously and have discussed it as a team.
With our GrabOne vouchers, these would have been purchased prior to the August lockdown with a disclaimer stating that M5 Ice bar will have to close temporarily if Queenstown moves to COVID-19 alert level 2. The Ice Bar cannot operate normally under level 2 restrictions due to the regulations placed on us by the Government and the sub-zero conditions in the Ice Bar. While other bars can function, we cannot ask our guests to remain seated on pure ice in sub-zero temperatures - adding to this, we're no longer able to provide our guests with adequate warmth – our usual jackets, hats etc cannot be offered to our guests under level 2 restrictions.
We do appreciate that re-opening the Ice Bar this time around under level 2 may have caused some confusion. While we have re-opened, we have not re-opened at full capacity. We are only accepting private functions & private group bookings (referred to as ‘Bubble Sessions’) to comply with COVD-19 level 2 restrictions. These are very different experiences to our classic level 1 experience and something we’ve only been running since September of this year. We understand that COVID has been around for a while now, however we’ve only adapted our offering recently so it’s all still a bit new to us as well. This will explain why it’s not expressly outlined in the GrabOne Terms and Conditions. GrabOne vouchers are only valid for our classic level 1 experience and not our adapted level 2 experience. Our team have been doing their best to ensure that customers are given adequate options to avoid disappointment: a full refund or they can use the voucher as credit towards our new private level 2 experience.
Upon reflection, we do understand that our wording with our GrabOne vouchers could be clearer. Please know that this wasn’t intentional, we didn’t foresee us being in level 2 for so long nor did we see foresee us adapting and re-opening under level 2. Once we reinstate GrabOne vouchers we will be amending the wording moving forward. Again, we really appreciate the feedback. A must do while visiting Queenstown. Use the voucher from the 'what's on' section in the tourism books to get 2 for 1 entry. Entry + 2 cocktails is normally $40, so 2 for 1 is a good deal. They fit you out with a jacket & gloves, and you get one hour inside which is plenty of time. There is some magnificent ice sculptures inside that apparently get changed out every 6 months or so. When we went there was only the 4 of us and one lady that was travelling alone. I'm not sure how many that they allow in at once (we went pre COVID). Staff were all friendly.

We usually allow up to 20-25 people in the ICE BAR, so everyone can enjoy our beautiful sculptures. Victor our ICE CARVER created some amazing new artwork last week. We hope to see you again to check these out!

Probably a great bar, can't wait to go but the booking system is horrible. Website in serious need of an upgrade. Paying up front for drinks is odd but understandable but if you are going to do that please at least have a website that makes it easy. Would be worth investing in the same website that most pubs seem to use, rather than the circa 2005 booking system currently in use which takes several attempts by mobile phone.

It depends on the time of year! Being a weekend, we highly recommend a booking to avoid disappointment. That can be done by emailing our reservations team or giving us a call. We just need to know how many people are in your group, along with the date and time the suits you best!

Kia Ora! Yes cellphones are safe in this temperature! However, please be aware that the temperature will drain the battery quicker than normal, so if you’re not using it, keep it tucked away somewhere warm!

You can take children with you, I imagine they would have to be old enough to be ok with the cold temperatures, the kids will just get a mocktail at the bar.
