This is a decent and unassuming monument, located in central Invercargill. We stopped by next to it on the way out of town, but you might as well drive around it for a quick look, as there's nothing much more to see.

This soldier has stood guard over the main intersection on the corner of Dee and Tay streets for over one hundred years.... His hand rests on his rifle standing by his side and his chin jutts out determinedly, his mind on his task....

One of the few things you'll probably remember about Invercargill, the memorial is at the Southern end of town where Route one turns off to Dunedin.

The memorial sits in the middle of the roundabout connecting two of Invercargills main streets - definitely not missed. A great tribute to all that fell in the Boer War.

Went to look at it but would have been suicidal to get up closer. Lucky it has survived after all those years. Respect.
