Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The beach at St Clair is lovely with a bar, a café and a restaurant, a kids playground, lifeguarded clean sandy beach and a freshwater pool at the end. On a sunny day the beach is great even if the Southern Ocean is a touch 'chilly'.

Visited on Monday 30th April. We were staying nearby and went for a drive to check out the local beach. Plenty of parking and you get great views along the coast without having to get out of your car.

In summer a great beach to swim or surf at or enjoy other attractions which have grown up for summertimes over the years. Too cold for swimming in winter but still offers a great environment to walk. Places to eat not far. Good value.

Dunedin beach is often the place to find big waves rolling in. The landscape along the beach top is well cared for and if they day is a little too windy or cool the view from the car is well worth the while. Perfect place to eat fish and chips and enjoy the view.

We walked there from the center of town: about 5 km, although the hotel recommended the bus, we got to see more of the local scenery. It was raining and windy so the beach was empty...no one but us. The surf was furious; looks great for surfing, but I imagine you would have to check with people who know best where to do this. Several high cliffs along the shore, reminds you of the Oregon coast.

Dunedin Beach is a sweeping white sand beach which is just minutes from central city. Lovely crystal clear blue water.

Not the warmest of days to go to the beach, however it was breathtaking. Small coffee shops and areas to sit was great. This will be magical in summer

The wind and waves were very strong and the water cold. It did not stop numerous surfers from being out on the water. The beach is very long and walkable.

A friend highly recommended this beach so husband and I went. I was a little disappointed. First, the good things:
Enough Parking
Nice little stores/souvenir shops
Nice view
However, the beach is full of rocks, makes it hard to walk along the shore and get in the water. It’s not the kind of beach to walk barefoot. There is a fee for parking so make sure you to do the research before going.

Is there place for motor homes to park and maybe stay overnight?

We were there in winter and it was very cold and windy..
I can't honestly remember if there were people there, however NZ caters wholeheartedly for the tourist! I'm sure there will be a spot for you. You will not be disappointed - a beautiful country:)
