Chris gave us the most informative experience, he was so patient and was keen to show us every part of nature he could find. He went over and beyond to ensure everyone was happy and saw the sites . His knowledge of Dunedin was extensive and he answered everyone's questions. Great day

Unfortunately our cruise ship was unable to dock in Port so sadly we were unable to do our trip. This was not due to any fault of the tour operator.

Chris provided an entertaining and informative tour of the Otago Peninsula and Dunedin. He knew the flora and fauna of the area like the back of his hand, and even dug in the Hooper's Inlet mud to show us what certain birds would look for.

Trip didn't start off so good as there was a problem with a bus?? Anyway instead of being picked up in Port Chalmers we had to make our way to Dunedin. Once there Chris picked us up and off we went for the best morning you could imagine. Chris was friendly and easy to listen to and most importantly knew what he was talking about. We went off the beaten track and found ourselves at one point about 2 metres from about a dozen seals, who seemed to like nothing better than to have their photos taken. We were taken to places a larger tour could not have gotten to and made all the difference. Thank you Chris, I highly recommend.

After a little confusion at the start of our tour we were assigned to Harry as our tour guide. Harry was friendly and provided adequate commentary as we toured Dunedin and the Otago peninsula. Highlight was Hooper’s Inlet where we got amazing sightings of various birds and seals. Unfortunately due to the confusion I referenced earlier, our tour missed some expected sights. Chris was very apologetic and quickly made things right for us. I would recommend Back to Nature tours for anyone visiting Dunedin.

Chris was an excellent guide and gave a very detailed and interesting commentary throughout the tour. Was taken up into the hills of the peninsula with stunning views...probably not accessible if you were on a cruise ship coach. We were also taken down to an inlet where we were able to see fur seals with pups, wonderful experience. Would thoroughly recommend this tour.

From the onset of this tour we knew we were in exceptionally good hands. Harry was knowledgeable , funny and experienced and showed us everything and more in this wonderful excursion. It was probably the best excursion we had on the NCL cruise and I would highly recommend it to others.

Harry was very informative and very personable! He was a local who showed his knowledge of his city and his pride!
Our stops were varied and adventurous!
Allen’s Beach was huge hit and so were seeing the sea lions!
The views were spectacular ..Harry said it was a gem of a day!

Excellent value. Our guide Ben was tremendous- full of local knowledge & advice. We had a trip around the main sites of Dunedin & then went out to the Otago Peninsula where we saw many birds & sea lions. It was fantastic. Thank you for all your help beforehand too (Chris). Would highly recommend the trip.

My husband&myself wanted to do the excursion Dunedin&The Peninsula Wild life tour;however,the tour is 7.5 hours&my cruise ship is in Dunedin from 9-5. Viator told me not to book this tour for they could not promise me I will be back in time. Is there any tour that u can recommend that I could do everything on this tour between 9:15-4;15. We would need to have time to get off the ship&the cruise company always ask travelers to be back at least an hour before ship leaves.I know other cruise people are probably facing the same dilemna i am dealing w/.What would you advise? I look forward to your response back as soon as possible. Thanks Sharon

For a day trip to Dunedin arriving via a cruise and looking for an independent tour company. What would you recommend doing? A nature trip or the pennisula,coast line. Whom did you use?

I would recommend doing both! The Peninsula is home to rare species like the New Zealand Sea-Lion and Yellow-Eyed Penguin, so combining the fauna and scenery is a must do in Dunedin and Back to Nature Tours can make this happen for you.

I am a travel agent in the usa and my wife and I will be on the celebrity solstice starting Dec 9 with stops in Tauranga on dec 10 and 11, akora on dec 13 and port chalmers on dec 15. We would like to book tours for each of these ports and would like to know if any discounts can be offered if we took 3 tours. In Dunedin we are interested in the wildlife tour and in Tauranga we would like the tour to Waka,,,, and in Akora the trip to Christchurch with the gardens. Let us know what the costs would be if we bought all 3 tours. Thanks.
