As a Cantabrian, I am still moved by this symbolic gesture of lives lost in the earthquakes. Most people in this city know about the white chairs.

This was a unique memorial to those who lost their lives in the Earthquake. Rather than photos, the city has that person's seat. The saddest was seeing the babies, toddlers and children's seats. That brought it home to me of the lives lost. Teary.

Come - pause a while - reflect - sit in a few seats - soak up the atmosphere - recall - remember - offer a prayer - leave changed

Imagine white chairs, of all different sizes and shapes, one for each man, woman and child who was killed in the earthquake, and you have this very different and meaningful memorial It’s near the. Cardboard Cathedral and worth a quick detour

A moving reminder of the 2011 Christchurch earthquake. Put on a tiny section behind the Cardboard cathedral, this makes a great place to capture some poignant photos of the cost of the earthquake.

Came across this unexpectedly when going to Cardboard Cathedral, is very nearby. Intriguing memorial, very impressed by such a different concept from most memorials, though currently surrounded by open space used for car parking. Would be better in another space but depends what gets built...More

I love this installation: and am unashamedly partisan about how much better this is than any of the other ways that we have been invited to reflect, to remember and respond to the earthquakes' toll. For me, the artist has nailed just how differently we...More
