This is the third location of this fountain, not the original. The name coming from J.T. Peacock who bequeathed his money for this fountain. It is a photographic object, as the object itself, or as the background of person's photos. The current location is in Christchurch Botanic Garden, at the front area next to Rolleston Avenue, adjacent to Canterbury Museum,... More

This fountain was bought by the Christchurch beautifying society using money left by John Thomas Peacock (there's the peacock). It is a very ornate fountain with an interesting history of its own positioned just as you walk into the botanical gardens.

What a beautiful peace of Victorian art this embellished fountain is, made all the more spectacular when it is switched on.

The fountain is right by the museum and at the top of the botanic gardens. Definitely worth stopping by as it is beautiful.

On a tour of the Botanical Gardens our guide told us the story about this very unusual fountain, how it came to be here in the gardens.
