A most beautiful park in the centre of Christchurch. So many species of plants, flowers, bushes and trees blooming in the spring weather. A stream flows throughit and has many species of waterfownl swimming about. Many paths to walk along. A glass cafeteria with seating inside and outside under shady umbrellas. No wait servce, all food is bought at the small area in the glass house. So much to enjoy and you could spend several hours in the park.

We walked 5hrough the park after breakfast, into the Botanic Gardens for coffee and then back through Hagley to our motel. We walked 18kms around Christchurch and found Hagley so peaceful with beautiful gardens, friendly locals running, walking and cycling. Lovely to have this park in the city centre.

This is one of the largest parks in the world and is larger than London’s Hyde Park but smaller than New York’s Central Park. It hosts a variety of features from botanical gardens, public golf course, international cricket venue to open spaces for families and people who want to exercise. Each Saturday morning, it hosts the local parkrun and it is an excellent event. It is very inclusive and is open to everyone regardless of ability.
