There is a lot of variety in exhibits. My friends and I all had our own favorite parts. They also had a children's exploration section that looked fantastic. The special exhibit of New Zealand Airlines was quite good as well. Seeing the size of the kiwi and albatross was also surprising. We spent a couple hours looking around the museum... More

It had a range of exhibitions and is definitely worth a visit. The new Zealand airline one is very good as is the historical one.

Comprehensive look at local and national history. The walk through street dating back to the Victorian period was very interesting along with exhibits of cultural and social development.

There is a lot to see, so make sure you have a good 2 hours to visit. The 75th Anniversary of Air NZ shouldn't be missed.

Went into the museum after a trip around the botanical gardens. Great little museum where you can learn loads about the local culture and history. There is also a really good section on Antarctica too. Highly recommended.

We spent 3 hours here. Fantastic. Indigenous display was outstanding. Local history and the Pua house was great. Dont miss the Christchurch museum while in town.

The main reason I visited was to see the Air New Zealand exhibit. The museum has a number of levels. Entry is free, so you don't have to see everything at once. There are interesting sections about Maori life before European contact, and native bird and animal displays.

The museum is free so we thought that it would be worth a visited, refusing a map on the way in because how complicated can a museum be? At first there is a bit about the Moa bird and then the first settlers coming and killing them all off, followed by a bit on the Maori villages. I remember a... More
