Went with a group of 12 and absolutely loved it! It was definitely the hardest escape room we have done, with lots of different elements to keep it really entertaining. All of the props and set etc were amazing, really easy to get immersed in. Would highly recommend!

Great eacaperoom experience, one of the best rooms i have tried! The room was beautifully decorated, truly an immersive experience. We did the Temple room, it was ranked a 7/10, which felt accurate. Some straight forward and some more tricky puzzles, but nothing far fetched or impossible. A great choice for a rainy or windy day in Wellington!

Easily booked and paid for on line.
The venue is not easy to find, as there is no signage outside, just the name of the building,
so your game starts early!
We chose the vault game, and it was our family playing: mum, dad, and kids of 14 and 12yrs.
You sign a waiver in terms of accident etc, but there is a safety kit inside, including water, and a swipe card to get out in an emergency. As well you're supplied with a two way walkie talkie for help along the way, or emergency.
We had a warm up exercise, and a briefing, including the background to our scenario,
some of which got lost in our instructor's accent - you need to ask questions, and ask the guide to slow down, or repeat if you don't hear or are not sure of anything.
We were locked in the vault, and given 60 minutes to solve to puzzles and use clues to find objects and work out the combination for the massive, solid metal doors.
Time went quickly, and we found it better to work as a team. I cannot say too much about the equipment or puzzles we had, as I don't want to ruin it for someone else!
Suffice to say that there was a mix of number related puzzles, and some different locks to break.
There were some "red herrings" just to confuse you.
There was a good variety in the game, with the added interest of the equipment on offer to solve or discover with.
Not having done one of these before makes it hard to rate, but a think overall we had a great time
and would be keen to do another one. The price of $20 per person was excellent value for the fun we had.
We did have to ask for a couple of hints along the way, but managed to get out just in time - before the baddies got us!
Definitely worth a visit as a visitor or a local. There were two options, and scenarios are changed regularly.

Ha! We didn't know anything about this genre of game. We being me and my 11 and 24 year olds. Lasses.
To say its quirky is an understatement. The owner is a real character. I wasn't worried at all by the prospect of being shut in a bank vault by a Hungarian called Tibor who we'd never met before.
Plus he needs a bit more signage.
But was it fun?
You betcha. Stressful maybe at times but I can imagine a group of guys and gals having a blast solving the clues to get released.
Plus I gather they're a " must do" if you like them.
For us, a real unusual entertainment and yes we mat well do another....

We tried one of these in Singapore and loved it, so we were really excited when we saw this was available in wellington. It's only been open 6 weeks and it did not disappoint. The clues were interesting, the setting was totally authentic (you're actually in a vault with a legit vault door!) and the difficulty was good for a group of 6 people.

Definitely a fun thing to do for teamwork, or to fill in a rainy day. Would highly recommend!

Multiple puzzles, required out the box thinking to get inside the box. Great experience. Fantastic staff. Even got a prize for completing! Definitely recommend!

We only had a day in Wellington and this place was fully booked. I knocked on the door hoping for the best and they said they could squeeze us in at 6:30. Was excellent in every way.

Escape Mate is such a cool and very unique addition to Wellington's attractions! Five of us went along from work, and were really stoked with the whole experience. Tibor and Laura were awesome hosts and made the situation feel authentic and exciting. We absolutely loved it. Definitely recommend this for a team building exercise with family, friends or colleagues. Thanks guys!
