I think Bats, along with Circa, is one of the active theaters in Wellington where you mostly see New Zealand drama. They have recently moved to their new location which is much better that the one in Dixon st. The variety of shows is great and you get new shows each week in one of its three stages. If you... We saw two shows here on our recent visit to Wellington, one of which was Belonging. Excellent live theatre, lovely street frontage bar to relax in before the show, always make a point of coming here when we're in town.

Great to have an awesome local venue - I'm new to town and have really enjoyed seeing some of the Fringe Festival and Comedy Festival here. The tickets are very reasonably priced. Only criticism would be that they ask you to print out your ticket, which can be quite logistically difficult for many people (so if this is true of... More

I don't know if this was community theatre or professional theatre. I DO know that it was an extremely entertaining evening with a script I'd never heard of being performed at a very professional level by a small cast of talented actresses.

I know this is a late review but around 2 years ago I booked my tickets (very early) for Follow Follow Follow at Bats. After 2 of the GO Wellington buses didn't show up (I usually expect one to not show up so I get ready early but the second bus's disappearance caught me off guard), I arrived at Bats... More

Hi Ceba1128, Sorry to hear that you had a disappointing experience back in 2013, but thanks very much for the feedback, which is still absolutely valid - even a couple of years later! To give you a bit of an idea about our usual procedure: we check with the artists who perform at BATS to see if they mind people... More

I didn't visit Wellington with the intention of going to the theater but I stumbled across the BATS Theater and ended up going to three shows in three days. The venue has three small theater spaces and I was there in the midst of the Fringe Festival (who knew?), during which they put on about 90 shows over two or... More

Just attended the latest BATS production, WATCH. It's a thought-provoking journey into the surveillance state, creatively presented by involving the audience in the "watching" process, with a surprise twist at the end of Act 1 and a change of theatre (within the same building) for Act 2. The small theatres gave a very intimate feeling to the show, which added... More

Awesome theatre, cutting edge always involved with FRINGE. Great shows, great people. Small, so tickets go quickly and there is a candy bar !

I went there for the actor improvisational production of "Wishing tree". It was really well done, the actor's seemed to pull off even the most awkard of moments(as they would pick a few wishes off the tree of who would be in the audience without knowing ~ then act it out on the spot with their pair incorporating humor, dialects and...
