This is one of my favourite places to have a stroll along the beach front or better still fossick along the many rock pools. Always lots to see here so perfect with the family. Not a swimming place as it can be a bit rough but for shell hunting or just a nice long walk its the perfect place.

My favourite beach in Wellington, even on a stormy day. Good swimming beach when the sun is out and the lifesavers out there work hard to keep everyone safe. Wish there was a cafe there though!

Going to the hilltops give a magnificent view of and across the bay. The beach area is good with vehicles being allowed to park there. We sat at a picnic table as a family for fish & chips whilst soaking up the early evening sunshine. Sunsets here are very picturesque.

Great place to picnic, swim and surf in summer. Many walks around the headland to over see Plimmerton and Mana Island. Shops and eateries local. Easy access to Porirua, Kapiti Coast and Wellington City.

Beautiful sandy beach. Simple but clean changing, toilet and shower facilities. Nice for swimming on a calm day and good for surfing if the swell is right. Pretty views on Mana island and nice walk around the beach. You can park your car right on the beach or on one of the spots in the shade on the road. The... More

Awsome little spot off the main routes Great family and surf beaches. We found lots of great walks around the area. A neat little cafe for great coffee down by the beach

I did a drive through exploration of the area. It's gorgeous. Road is very narrow so care must be taken but it's well worth it.

Have spent many hours either swimming or just going for a stroll along the beach. Interesting character of the fossil forest that we used to show all our visitors on a low tide. Incredible piece of history. Take some photos of the colourful boatsheds and the kids fishing off the rocks
