We didn't go inside but this belonged to a philanthropist who gave his library to the local library which is considered the finest in the southern hemisphere. You will pass it when near the parliament buildings.

There are a lot of old buildings and attractions in the city so I can't suggest wasting any here, but if you're about and looking at the parliament buildings then you could check this out with little extra effort. Personally I wouldn't make the extra effort to go now.

We were there on a Friday. No reason given as to why it was closed at 2pm. Very disappointed. I had wanted to see this important architecture and home to a founding family of Wellington.

Worth a visit if you're near the parliament buildings. Shows some of the history of Wellington. Glad I saw it.

Love heritage buildings, and used to really love going when the Alexander Turnbull Library was housed here before moving to the National Library.

Turnbull House is a nice building near the Wellington Parliament House. The old building is nice, but unless you are holding a function there, it is just a building. Take a look, but don’t expect to spend more than a few minutes here.
